Get a vpn subscription from a service that has exit points in the UK for example. I cut cable about 18 months ago and don't miss much.
I got a vpn service originally for the Olympics so I could watch the BBC and CBC streaming service last winter. CBC had great NHL coverage and the BBC was great for F1 and world cup. You can trick the app store into thinking you are in another country by providing a valid postal code. So I installed apps from ITV (also UK) BBC iplayer, BBC sport to my iPad. All for $50/yr.
I eventually configured a router to connect to the vpn so I could stream stuff to my chromecast. Like I said its great not only for UK, but Canada and I used the Australian exit points for the Bathurst 1000.
