  1. A compresson bypass valve is vac operated, when the engine hits vac it should open (i think), allowing the boost built up release. It should normally be closed, except when you left off the gas. When you get around to take it apart youll discover there isnt alot to it, just a rubber bladder with a hole.
  2. So if i were to do one on battery relocation, or the like, what format would you want. PS, someone should do a write up on installing a tranny cooler
  3. people want the us govt to have a balanced yearly budget, and dont get me wrong i am all for fisca responsibility, however if you compare the federal goverments total debt to its income, it is 10% lower than the average american's ratio.
  4. it does sound like a lot, but think, the more money foriegners and US citizens alike invest in the united states, the less likely they would be to want to collapse, and for this i see the 14% as a good number. If it was higher itd be better i say, the more of a vested interest foriegn nationals have in the us, the more stable as a world power we could be.
  5. Worst idea ever, you do realize that the national 'debt' is what keep the economy running so smoothly? The debt gives the fed the ability to buy and sell treasury bonds/notes (largest portion of us debt) on the open market, which regulates interest rates. Only 14% of US debt is owned by foriegners, and do you know why? Becuase they feel the need to invest in a stable economy with good growth and returns. Most of those notes arnt owned by goverments either. Most of the debt (86%) is owned by guys like you and me, who own govt bonds and notes. Thus paying off the debt would be pro cyclical and devistating to our economy. edit: cant form good sentances
  6. im about as conservative as you get... my whole family is and we all drive volvos.... although my mom and sister drink enough nasty starbucks for everyone on this board
  7. vet's day for us in nov 11.. i think... i didnt get it off from school so i forget (pretty sweet considering i go to a military college)
  8. i think they would, even if they paid 50% in taxes its still 5x more than they could make in mexico
  9. my two cents, i live in a high labor area and while i was visiting with a work crew today that my friend works on i had a startling realization. As he sat there and talked to me, he explained that he had just come off 3 back to back shifts installing irregation equipment, he said that becuase of the new fear of prosecution almost none of the workers have come back for the summer, forcing him (he works for his dad) to work back to back shifts. I thought maybe it was an isolated incedent in the town so i checked the want adds, all 8 pages of them, and when you live in a town of about 4000 people, thats alot of jobs. Now some might say "victory" weve created jobs for americans, others might say "stuff" i have to pay out the jerk for goods and services in my town now. But to be honest it hasnt really affected me, and all i ask for is some legislation that allows guest workers to come in and work, pay taxes, etc and go home when they want. Because in reality i bet there are hundreds of people in my town right now without jobs, but becuase they refuse to do the back breaking labor that the immigrants provide, they will continue to not have jobs. Hey im all for border patrol, but at some point one has to realize that our economy is dependant on the influx of cheap labor and that unless americans want to start doing crappy jobs, they might as well let someone else do it cheaper. quick edit: if we allow more legal immigrants and drasticlly cut the illegal sector of it those numbers dont sound so high, considering the number of illegals is in the millions.
  10. thats good, its annoying when people dont, or if they talk...
  11. ahhh! im no JROTC nazi.... please god no.... ever regular rotc is kinda iffy, i think the way to go is at a military school (NOT usma, usafa, usna) like the citadel vmi or one of the others. There is less politics etc and you still have kids who dont commision who can give a different outlook on life than the commsioning cadets.
  12. when we do field training with the army, they always seem disorganized, undiciplined etc.... they hand out money to any one who says they might think about contracting, and they give out scholarships to a ridiculas amount of people. if you want an army contract you can have like a 2.5, 220 on the apft etc, marines/navy you need at least a 3.5 to be competitive, and over a 275 on the vft. yes im only in rotc, but our rotc is just a bit different from rotc say at... i dunno any school
  13. umm the only tools that salute in doors are the army, and only for reporting, never the natl anthem. navy/marines/af never salute uncovered or indoors.
  14. i think i remeber watching the olympics and they were saying that its proper just stand up and be quiet, you dont have to hold your hand over your heart if you dont want to
  15. only in the shitawful army. The navy and marines never salute uncovered or indoors.
  16. well if you are going to get techinical.... you never render a hand salute, uncovered (indoors) or in civilian attire, only come to attention at these times and face the flag. it is only proper to salute when you are in uniform and covered
  17. im a big advocate of raising the driving age to 21 but dropping the drinking age to 18. Under age driving is way easier to control and the penalties are much harsher and more long lasting if you get caught. For example in my home town if your caught driving underage (16 is the legal age) you can lose the privledge untill your 18-21, depending on the offense. However, if you are caught drinking, even mulitple times, you can still drink when your 21.
  18. so combined these people killed about 200 people, way to go, pigs (animals not the po po) kill more people per year than these guys did all toghether.....
  19. whatever i dominate all you fools..... :P
  20. i think i was one of 4 in a graduating class of 300 that didnt ever drink in HS, and i know im the only one in my Co. at school that doenst drink, not against it, just thought itd be fun to save that first drink for my friends and dad when i turn 21
  21. acutally its not at all like that, see if you are sent to prison you obviously screwed over society, the soldier on the other hand volenteered and i think itd be better to poll the active mil to see what they think of this whole situation.
  22. too bad not many of you have room to talk since none of you will likely see iraq, it may take me 3-4 more years but ill probably end up there. Until then i think the only people who should decide to go to war the the troops
