  1. if this was Bush Administration or McCain... EVERYONE would and the media would be calling Bloody Murder.

but instead... only Fox News would call it bloody murder now because they changed their format from Fox State News Channel, supporting the President and his administration in everything they do including violating the constitution; to Fox Opposition Party News criticizing how the President has a deep seeded hatred for white people and sends unlawful emails

as for the taxes part. ambulances fall under emergency services which fire and police do as well. now maybe a cut in health care(Medicaid/Medicare) spending could mean that grandma/grandpa couldnt afford some kind of heart drug, etc. education is a black hole when it comes to spending. we are always promised that more money will give kids the tools to succeed and become productive citizens.

now im not advocating a cut in taxes. its just that it seems that when there is a problem, especially when involving the federal government, the immediate solution is to chuck more money at it seeing as its fast and easy and it makes for good headlines.

i mixed up where spending goes. but anyway, does grandma or grandpa deserve to die because they can't afford to fund the profit margins that drug companies like to see? and of course education spending is a black hole when you make rules like: "failing schools that need funding can't get funding until they stop failing"

and of course you don't just chuck more money at problems to fix them, but money is necessary. was GHW Bush wrong when he raised taxes because of how much Reagan fucked our budget (or his advisors, I am not sure how many decisions he actually made for himself considering he probably had early symptoms of Alzheimer's towards the end of his presidency)? no, he had to do it and lucky for the democrats for the 92 election he "lied," Clinton was elected and was able to build on what Bush did to balance the budget, too bad it's the other way around this time and for some reason I foresee Sarah Palin making it a priority to get stealth fighters and bombers for an Alaskan bear patrol

  3. But if we raise taxes, that hurts businesses which in turn have to lay off employees which then lowers business taxes and then lowers personal income taxes due to the people that were laid off, and puts them on unemployment which in turn instead of helping the situation raises the outflow instead of the inflow.

and cutting spending leaves your country impotent in many areas. for example, if you cut education spending you end up with a less educated population less capable of performing skilled jobs in areas that require higher intellects. if you cut spending on public safety, crime goes up, more people die in house fires or whatever. cut health care spending and more people die because ambulances couldn't get to them or 911 lines were busy, or there weren't any hospital beds.

however, this country certainly does waste a ton of money on the military when it could be spent much more efficiently, perhaps on flack jackets for troops in afghanistan instead of the F-22 Raptor program and so forth.

unless the terrorists get 5th generation air superiority fighters of course.

  4. true enough, but the usps hasnt had many years where they werent running up a deficit.

and yes i would like to see a more efficient and properly run government, but its a lot easier said than done. and as for better funded, theyve got plenty of money already. more money is not always the best idea.

the government is broke, we are on China's credit plan. more taxes = helps pay off national debt and helps to minimize any deficit or maybe even turn it into a surplus like... oh yeah, the last democratic president was able to do. not saying we don't need to make more changes, and maybe cutting free saturday delivery is a start for the usps. but higher taxes would help our situation. obama was bullshitting when he said we could cut taxes in the situation we are in.

  5. I saw a show on the History Channel called Automobiles and they did a show about Volvo where I learned about this! Good stuff.

Another fun fact: Every time a Volvo is involved in an accident on a Swedish highway or road, an accident investigation team is sent by Volvo to study how their car performed in the crash.

  6. Priority shipping.

I ordered some stuff from BassPro last week. They split the order and shipped the bigger item FedEx. The 2 small items, a fishing lure and 4 worm hooks, was shipped USPS.

FedEx came in 2 days. Still waiting for USPS.

    Whom cares, grammar cop.

I think you meant to say "who"

The USPS stuff was probably shipped at the slowest speed! I was raving about Priority Mail; Parcel Post/Media Mail sucks!

the usps is or is predicting a 7 billion dollar deficit for this year. they may be doing their job but they are losing a hell of a lot of money doing it.

that's chump change compared to the entire gov't

the airlines were all bankrupt at one point and they're all private and up and running... it goes both ways when our economic system sucks

i wouldn't mind paying extra taxes in return for a more efficient and better funded gov't

  7. haha, and USPS is run by who again? lol

I think you meant to say "whom" and I have never had a problem with the post office that I haven't also had with a private parcel company. USPS is superior when it comes to coast to coast shipping IMO (2 days for under $10). So even with all these problems, they do their job and I don't notice a difference in service. What's your point?

  8. If we cannot even give health care to Veterans correctly... what do you think these govtment suckers, tax payer suckers will get it? and it will work

NO ONE WANTS THIS HEALTH PLAN

Military health care for active duty soldiers is pretty good. I never had problems with it when I was a dependent; it was pretty much socialist health care. The government knows how to do socialist health care, they just royally effed up with the VA hospital system.

  9. who says socialism is bad? from what i have read in the new york times, i think i like china's version:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/30/world/asia/30jilin.html?pagewanted=2&_r=1&hp

it's like everything you people hate about communism and everything i hate about capitalism in the same boat! how can we go wrong!?

  10. True, I received this as a forwarded forward if you will. Prolly should have indicated the original source of quote. I was kinda choked up and did it in haste, not trying to claim it as my own. Just showed me folks still care and remember.

I figured there was nothing intentional, I just read it as your words before I looked up where the soldier was fighting and saw who said it. It just changes how I interpret the statement a little and figured it might do the same for others. No harm no foul!

  11. It's sad that he died fighting for a justified cause that has been overshadowed by the Iraq War and almost forgotten by the media for the past 6 years when it should be the focus. It's nice to see that people care enough to take time out of their day to honor him.

PS The entire original post is Representative Steve Davis' (R-McDonough, Georgia) words verbatim if anyone is curious who made that statement.

  12. Well if universal health care goes into effect there will be what...at least 50 million new people that will be able to receive benefits and a lot of them are going to need drugs to treat whatever they have.

and 50 million more that have been duped by drug companies' ridiculous commercials and want to get their dicks up
