  1. You just reiterated the point that I was trying to make with Erik... There are enough of ways to reduce his effective tax rate that arguing nothing can be done for straight salary recipients simply isn't true. Either his guy is too lazy to do the legwork on Erik's behalf or Erik's too lazy to find a new guy.
  2. Erik, I'm not calling BS on your previous statement, your busy lives or claimed income... Specifically, I was calling bullshit on: " No FA or accountant we went to was able to do anything" My point, as echoed by Alain, is that a good FA would understand your financial situation and be able to suggest strategies and tactics to lower your future taxable income.
  3. I call Bullshit on your Bullshit... A good FA would have suggested that you start a home based business, if nothing else, and you'd gain the additional write-offs associated with that venture. Hell, if you're that flush with income, seems like they would have suggested you get a larger mortgage or investment property simply for the write offs. Sounds like you need a better FA.
  4. In theory, sure... but in reality, if your buddy is actually paying $92k in income tax then he needs a new accountant. Edit: Alain responded while I was typing and made most of my points for me
  5. Out of curiosity, who do you define as the "hardest working peoplein this country"?
  6. Crazy... I literally forgot that each of them were of Hispanic descent. Still, I think if HRC gets in, then she'll more than likely get elected to a 2nd term (unless she seriously effs up) and in another 8-12 years, the black/browns will have actually built a significant political collation instead of the fractured mess they've historically had. And if that happens, then the electorate will have changed significantly too. So why wouldn't they continue the trend at that point?
  7. 8 years ago, I stated for the record that if Obama won, I didn't foresee another white man as President before 2028. I still stand behind that statement, and I'll go one step further and predict that if HRC does win, there will be a hispanic president before another white guy is
  8. I did. SMH at Trump's "drop to his knees" comment... any day now I expect to tune in and hear one of the candidates rebuttal start with: "Oh yeah, well... YOUR mom is SO fat that she..." (and it would only become more awesome if, before the punchline came, the audience chanted back in unison: "How fat is she??" )
  9. I don't know... You gotta respect a candidate who makes the Democrats pine for the good ole days of a Bush presidency while simultaneously making the elite class of Republicans wish on a star for 4 more years of Obama
  10. I literally can not listen to Trump speak... It gives me a headache. He seems to repeat the same cliche sentence fragments over and over and his list of adjectives appears to be limited.
  11. I see all of the pics
  12. one day I might get off of my lazy, fat ass and finish it... or, maybe not
  13. That's why you should support Trump... He vows to bring "back" that America
  14. from what I understand, the difference is primarily in the valve body and tcm programming but I suggest that you give Dave at Triple Edge Performance a call at (260) 437-8912 He's a great guy to do business with and will answer all of your transmission related questions.
  15. I'm not a Rubio fan, but his "small hands" comment made me LOL. I directly attribute this circus to the "stolen" election of 2000 - and for that I say: Thank you Mr. Bush
  16. My spidey sense is telling me that Trump never expected to be in this position at this point in the cycle. I think that his original intent was closer to the Carson model (all the benefits of a presidential candidate with none of the commitment) and would have been very content in Carson's role. I think that he'd like nothin more than someone else to when the nomination but he can't afford to withdraw at this point withour ruining his brand. So, instead of pulling a Palin, he makes more and more outrageous statements - hoping to push voters away.
  17. Boy, I couldn't have been any wronger (sic) on that call, huh? Agreed. Albeit, begrudgingly.
  18. I've made it clear to my wife and kids that I wasn't financing my kids college experience (as opposed to education). I know how much of a unfocused, entitled prick that I was when I was in college, and I refused to waste my money on offspring who are genetically predisposed to possessing the same mindset. I'd rather cosign for a mortgage for each of them, than a student loan for each of them - at least there is a tangible end result (and it gets them out of my house that much faster). With that being said, I'm highly pissed that I am being forced to disclose financial information during my daughter's FASFA application. If I have no intentions to subsidize her experience, then my income shouldn't matter - especially if she is emancipated. And did anyone ever think that maybe I don't WANT my young adult kids to know my income and assets? And did you guys see where a man was arrested because of outstanding student loan debt?
  19. Percentage wise? I'd estimate 2/3 of the people I spoke with about this indicated they would vote for Bernie. Spent time in both SC and NC during the Christmas holidays. Specifically, I was in Raleigh, Charleston and Columbia. I was genuinely surprised at the amount of people I found who supported Bernie (especially in the low country) - mostly young (under 30) and old (over 65). The Hillary supporters were in 40-60 age group. General themes that I noticed during my conversations: Seems like the mature women (35+) in particular have a trust issue with Hillary - and all of the people who participate in the 08 primary have long memories regarding the way the Clinton's treated BO surrounding that time. The seniors are giving Bernie their vote just because of his civil rights record. I feel/felt the same as you Alain - I only mentioned it because the polls seem to be trending in a direction that supports what I heard. I guess we'll see come Sat.
  20. Everything that I'm hearing for the past few weeks from my sources in SC is that Bernie is going to shock the world. Time will tell if I need new sources or not...
  21. Alden, I think that you clearly are overlooking what, to me, immediately leaped from my computer screen into my visual cortex, and main lined straight to my brain like an 8 ball of coke, herion and tap water from Flint, Mi. This observation was so obvious that I was shocked no one pointed this fact out before me. It was so blatantly apparent that, once I realized it, I momentarily lost the ability to understand the concepts and principles of letters combining to make words while I struggled to comprehend what my brain had just processed... "What was that?", you ask Simply the return of Prof. Alain (insert angelic harmony here) !! Sure... He didnt LINK those citations to his Google source(s), but WE know he Googled them. You win Alden. YOU. WIN. Ps - welcome back Professor! I felt like Sherman without Peabody
  22. 1 post in and I'm already jealous... I long for a commercial building. Congrats on everything... Grownup shit ftw!
  23. I'm gonna have to take a second look at Trump now that Palin has endorsed him... * I couldn't even TYPE that with a straight face
