With good air and oil filters, I would not hesistate to run synthetic oil for 5000-6000 miles as long as it wasn't being otherwise contaminated (water, fuel, etc). In my experience, it's hard to hurt an engine, but mine was a redblock and not a turbo.

Really? Why is that? Detonation is very powerful.

Toyota doesn't own the teams. Then why do they have all those forms that go on the body? And why does it take so long to inspect all the cars? It's headed towards a spec series BECAUSE so many rules are defined. Spring rates, spoiler angles, shocks, gear ratios, tires...it's defined. We just don't get to see the rules in print. I dislike nascar and at the same time laugh at all those who say it's just rednecks going in circles wasting a bunch of money. The engineering and business side of it is so much more advanced than most people assume.

Fines mean nothing, points mean something. Top 35 in points is HUGE. Just ask Mike Waltrip. I wonder if Fox has a Toyota cut-away car yet? NASCAR should help procure a Camry for them to butcher.

I'd agree, only because the ones I've seen like the Evolve car were over heated. The temp doesn't even have to be of the piston melting level to kill the block. I'd expect to see failure at the thrust side of the cylinders if it were just too much power. Anyone melt a piston in one of these aluminum blocks? Or break a ring land from detonation? Does the block EVER survive that?
