  1. pro tip: always book non-stop flights
  2. Wife went to Jiffy Lube to get her oil changed. They said that her fuel filter was rusty and wanted to change it for $79. lol, she called me of course, I told her to tell them know. I can get a MotorCraft for $10 and half an hour of my time. I hate Jiffy Lube but they do cheap oil changes for her car.
  3. I will see what I can dig up. I am not saying that the tax write off is a reason to not let them, I am saying it is a reason for them wanting to get married. The born that way is a thing that I think most people are not sold on. I can see someone born with dark skin or light skin. If a person goes hetro their whole life and then starts dating the same sex, were they born hetro and then "truned' homosexual? I think that is a big part also. What about the other way, dating same sex their whole life and then going hetro?
  4. Not trying to cheapen things, just stated who you compared them to. I know some companies, including mine allow benefits for partners and not just married hetro. For Hospitals, is that more of a HIPAA policy or a case by case hospital policy? I would say they could change that to people that either live together/benefits or share a child. If homosexual couples could get married throughout the country, do you think they would get married to "save a couple bucks" like hetro couples do? I think so. so you are saying... race = sexuality as far as civil rights are concerned?
  5. So we are comparing people that support traditional marriage to the KKK and Hitler? I am not talking about hating someone. Is on of the reasons that there is a want for marriage equality is because of benefits? So if a person does not support gay marriage and does not believe in God or religion, then what is he/she?
  6. So with all the gay marriage talk in politics lately and the want for equality and tolerance, why is it if someone says they dont support gay marriage they get bombarded with hate and bigot comments? Starbucks has come back and said that if you DONT support gay marriage they dont want your business, but no outrage there like Chick-Fil-A. it is like people are getting beat up (not physically) for having a belief and support of traditional marriage and dont support what another group supports.
  7. Greg, the best way to handle this is to give everyone sling shots... ooh could you imagine the loss of eyes?!?!
  8. I am floored how people still feel they made a the right choice. Most likely they don't want to admit it and keep it buried down deep and use it to make rash choices and yell at people for not believing what they believe but want tolerance
  9. I HATE this video. The only way this would be OK is if they cleaned up the mess afterwards.
  10. Does not help the f-ing media making people fear the worst all the time.
  11. Hmm.. I will ask him for a quote of solid hard maple.
  12. We are doing an area rug in the formal and then in the dining room maybe. we are on a concrete slab, so they are pulling up the current hardwood that is glued down and then putting down the new hardwood with glue also. Did not really want a floating floor if we have a good foundation now.
  13. Yeah, I am trying to get some decent millimeter of protection.
  14. From what I have seen from proposals is that companies are underbidding the contract in this area and then having trouble finding people with the required experience and qualifications for that job and salary. You are not going to get a person with 10 years experience, a BS and MS and certs for under $100k in this area. But yet they say they have them for the contract. Then they look to SUB and even then that does not work out. Again this depends on the reqs for the contract on budget or performance. We had GS people at my last location that would go out to lunch every day for 2 to 3 hours. They might get in at 7am but when you are gone from 11am to 1pm or 2pm and then leave at 3pm, there is no way you are doing your job. I like how the GS lead there did not even graduate high school and was managing these people.. and was doing a horrible job at it. But as contractors we have to bow down to the GS. ANYWAYS
  15. We are doing two rooms. One is pretty big the other is 11x12. We thought going 5" in that room and the big room would make the smaller room feel smaller. That is why we want width 3.25"
  16. Relax little man. I am not a Govt employee, but it will affect contractors on contracts won, bid and cost of people/talent to fund a contract. If a govt employee makes 100k a year. Which in this area is a GS-13 Step 5 or above (easy to make) that would mean that after taxes could be seeing $800 to $1000 less take home pay. That might seem like a lot out there on the West Coast but in this area you can't buy a house or town-home in a safe neighborhood for less than 350k. I read on CNN there other day that 1/3rd of people right now have more debt than savings.. which blows my mind. (does not include mortgage loan). I wish there was an efficient way to cut lazy govt employees. Do an interview like they do in Office Space. I have worked with SO MANY people that are on the GS level that have decent resumes but when you talk to them they have no idea what they are talking about or how to do their job efficiently. I work with a number of program managers that can't even remember meetings to join or notes from the previous meeting. It is like talking to a goldfish sometimes.
  17. So we are getting quotes for Hard Maple, Engineered wood by Mercier that is 1/2" thick and 3 1/4" wide for $4600. That includes EVERTHING. We have glued down floors now so they would take that all up and glue down the new floors on the concrete slab. I see it not being that expensive but still, for 400 sq feet just seems like a lot.
  18. I agree, people around here are getting pretty uncomfortable. 20% less pay is NUTS around this area because that could be 800 to 1200 less a month for most people. That is crippling considering a lot of people dont save money. This is what happens when you spend a shit load more than you have coming in and give everyone everything as a handout. It will be interesting to see how the Metro does with that much larger loss of fares to catch everyday.
  19. Anyone know anything about hardwood flooring? Getting some quotes from a number of companies and it seems VERY high for the 387sq feet that we want to get replaced.
  20. Ha, I need to be able to run first still battling my knee issues.
  21. Ha, you don't want it right now. I am trouble shooting some coolant loss. I think my heater core and of course the turbo issue. I am going to try to make it to Carlisle this year. I would probably only be able to go Friday and be home Saturday since my wife works Sunday's now. I have to see how the little guy and wife are doing.
  22. oh man, I need to find the time to install my turbo from Greg. I my 850r feels so sluggish it is nuts. Oil level is not staying constant but my mpg is still great. /rant
  23. it is 19 degrees here. Got the first fire roaring in our 1st fireplace I have a feeling I will go through this half a cord of wood very fast.
