  1. Ask Hussein. Look at post #179-180 '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>
  2. Two vents (thanks Hussein) with baffles on the underside. Welded the donuts from the inside, no reason just did it that way. And look what showed up in the mail today...SWEET! Clutch components complete: 6-puck disc, Sachs 707 and lightened flywheel.
  3. If there was some terrible wind or something, yes. But generally where I live its calm and yesterday was a nice peaceful cloud cover and 70 deg. The engine gets bagged when not being worked on.
  4. Got a little more done today. Picked up new mid-block bolts and assembled the mid-block. Got the rods all cleaned and ready for the pistons. Here are the ARP rod bolts up against the China rod bolts. China on the left, ARP on the right. All the left over parts.
  5. Worry not. I didnt spend any time overthinking this. It took longer to draw that picture. We measured and said, "Well look at that". Got the correct gap needed, ground it down and pounded them in.
  6. Info on shimming. When we were preparing to shim the slots we did some measurements and found that the center of the slot was deeper than the sides. It tapered out towards the edges. I dont know how the slot was cut but can say that it appears to have been done by a circular blade straight down into the section. I dont know if it really matters all that much but if your determined to fill the slot completely then you would need to make some mods to the shim itself. This is what I did.
  7. 81.5 The nice part is that I hit 342whp on broken rings so who knows were this will end up. No predictions, just see what happens. The block is done, no darts. 4 lbs came off the flywheel. We left gaps on both ends of the shims so coolant can pass. Also kept them straight on purpose in the event that they walk they will hit either side of the block. They are pressed in there and also trimmed at the bottom to fit into the bottom section of the slice. The tops are recessed enough for the head gasket to bite into the slice.
  8. I have decided to start build#2. I have already been through one engine and it ran great then decided to die. Most likely because I beat it up. I am starting over after cracking all my rings. Assuming it was due to detonation, at least thats the only reason I can think this would happen. So out the engine came and off to get a face lift. Since I love pictures I am just going to make this picture heaven. I will post pictures as things advance. Out with the old. This was the carnage from the rings breaking. So whats new. Well this time I decided to go with a different clutch, lighten the flywheel and Wiseco pistons. To prep for or maybe just as a precaution we shimmed the block. Of course this was done before boring. Getting punched. /URL] Flywheel getting gutted. Had some vents added to the valve cover Sachs 707 mated up to the lightened flywheel Flywheel cut and balanced. Block is now home and assembly begins Shimmed. Some interesting things we found out about this grove. I will add additional pictures later. Crank balanced with the flywheel and polished. The finished flywheel.
  9. Has anyone contacted IPP for Toga bearings lately? I was told by them in December that they were out and had no idea when they would get more in stock, if ever. Those exact words. I ended up with Sealed Power Mains.
  10. Did the rings crack? The symptoms you have been experiencing sound similar to what happened to me.
  11. Hussein, The valve cover vents. Did you make the weld on puck or purchase them? I have seen them with a plug in them. I want to add them with a plug to my valve cover but dont know what it would be called along the lines of a search name.
  12. I know this was from Feb but I want to point out that Kingsbourne and IPD wires are not the same. I disected both, IPD uses a single strand, Kingsbourne uses a double strand. My IPD's did fall apart after awhile. Kingsbournes are holding up so far.
  13. Just rename all the songs that start with R and beyond to begin with an A...problem solved.
  14. I dont know how they are going to figure this out. They have to filter the people somehow but you know someone will get their 'feelings' hurt and sue Disney. So, do they cancel the program or make the lines wider to accommodate wheelchairs. By the way, this only applies to Disneyland where the rides were made before all the handicap hoop-law. They allow them to enter at the ride exits instead of the main line. Typically that gets them near the front where they can actually see whats going on in shows, etc. At California Adventure you wait in line with everyone.
  15. This PISSED ME OFF to no end. I have a disabled kid, my 17 year old daughter has Rett Syndrome and is confined to a wheel chair, cannot talk, cannot walk, cannot feed herself, cannot do anything but smile. Basically, a true blue disabled child. How DARE they do this and screw up the small benefits/perks these kids get. I dont even park in a handicap spot unless she is in the car with me. I dont abuse the privilege, I respect it. The people that do this are garbage. Dont get me started. Just fuming! We would never get this kind of experience.
  16. Today at lunch in Folsom, Ca. Beautiful Yellow, I mean seriously nice condition. No idea who it is.
  17. I agree there. Its a spring loaded diaphram inside there. I can see if there is a vacuum that it would close and not allow to much draw. Problem is, who determines the amount.
  18. It looks like a dial but its fixed, does not turn or move. [/url ]
  19. I do not see an adjustment on mine either. I thought there was one but it looks like they are spring loaded relief valves. Hussein, where did you find the 1" elbows? I have been to many shops, stores, etc trying to find something for those fittings. Nothing.
  20. Almost gave you a -neg because you didnt take us out on the road. Come on!
