  1. Given his sportsmanship he deserved to win.
  2. Glass paint will do it. Vitrea 160 seems to be what people try using. I just went and made a new board, since I reversed a header in my first one. I used the same method, except this time I used a sharpie to fix any areas that peeled off. The great thing about the transparency film is that I can peel it off without soaking it in water. I was actually able to use the sponge technique and it didn't take off the sharpie. I want to try a solder mask this time around.
  3. The method I used is pretty much identical to the typical toner-transfer method. The only thing I did different was use the sponge technique in lieu of soaking the board in a container (takes longer, wastes more acid). The paper guillotine might work well, since people use PCB cutters that do pretty much the same. I already had a bandsaw, so it made it very easy to cut what I needed. http://retromaster.wordpress.com/pcb-making/ This guy does a great job at making PCBs, including applying soldermask.
  4. Off-the-shelf Radioshack two sided copperclad board and Radioshack branded Ferric Chloride. 1. Cut the board with a bandsaw using 18TPI blade 2. Scuffed it up 3. Designed in EAGLE 4. Used transparency paper from Fedex/Kinkos with a laser printer 5. Transfered with a clothes iron (took 6+ tries) 6. Soaked a small square of sponge in FeCl3 and carefully rubbed the PCB, taking off the exposed copper 7. A few minutes later, had the board etched 8. Scuffed off the toner 9. Used carbide tipped drill bits with a dremel to make holes (a drill press would be useful here, but a flex attachment and a steady hand do just as well)
  5. Yep, first home made PCB. Had them made at fab houses before, but I wanted to do this at home. After putting everything together I realized I reversed a header, so time to make another one. Hopefully this time I'll transfer the toner better for the ground plane.
  6. This + this = this Sweet... liquid tin = win.
  7. Cool beans. My car is from Smythe.
  8. Ouchies! Is the 16-35 known for being poorly built? The Tamron 17-35 is not a bad lens for the price (they can be had for $300 these days) and is my usual walk-around lens.
  9. The Oatmeal rocks. This is a funny...
  10. Agreed. Affirmative action and any kind of scholarship that gives preferential treatment based on race is the definition of racism. A white kid not getting in because the school needs to meet a "minority quota?" Racism. A white person getting a job over an equally qualified black person? Racism.
  11. Great shot. Rim lighting is something I've been wanting to experiment with as well. Thank you I have shot there before, but never using the 7D.
  12. Great shots, Greg! Loving the last shot.
  13. I had a relatively expensive real estate sign of mine that was tagged in the past week. It was a pain in the ass cleaning it up (luckily adhesive remover worked); it is a problem because I rely on people reading that sign and inquiring about the property. Kind of sucks that I have to spend my time and hard earned money cleaning someone else's "art" up.
  14. Agreed. The poll makes sense. The last part of the posts says that commissioned and legitimate work is excluded from the poll, so therefore you only vote for the remainder (which is the majority). Punishments for graffiti/tagging should be strict, somewhere along the lines of decades in prison doing laborious work (yes, it costs a lot in tax dollars).
  15. What do you think? Murals are exempt, and so are commissioned works (ie, owner gave permission).
  16. Awesome, I have some plexi laying around. What about the background? I need to bust out my umbrellas and flashes to play around with shots like this. Shot at 200mm (with a 70-200 f/2.8L). I'm looking for a Canon 2X II TC to bring that lens to 140-400 when I need it. Sadly it makes the f/2.8 into a f/5.6, but for 400mm, I think it's worth it.
  17. Great shots! I love studio shots with lighting like that. What did you use for the reflective base? I'm guessing either plexiglass or glass. Shot this last night.
  18. Union Square Christmas tree.
  19. It looks like Bryce Canyon. My sister moved to SLC and has been taking lots of trips to the national parks. I can't wait to visit; looks like a beautiful place.
  20. Thanks! The lighting was very good; overcast sky on a bright sunny day. The second shot would have been ideal for me if the background were darker, beyond that I'm pretty happy with it. I think the first one needs a different crop, too.
  21. Couple of shots from yesterday.
