  1. Some photos from a week ago. Excuse the JPEG compression, flickr over-does it for most. Some overall desaturation on the photos and levels on the others. No selective desaturation or any of that, just some quick work in Lightroom. San Francisco's Southern waterfront ship yards. Pier 7 Accidental shot
  2. You can checkout the Samsung F2480 panels, they are 24" S-PVA panels which are significantly better than TN, but cheaper than IPS. I have two F2080s (20") and picked up both brand new for $220... killer deal though. $300-350/each if you get them retail. Great shots you guys, very awesome stuff. On and Zack, since you posted the 300mm. A friend of mine linked me to this: http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/936824
  3. Two shots that are in my flickr; been too lazy to process my photos lately =[
  4. You should try BorrowLenses.com. They are local, so I have used them before, but their prices are exceptional. Service is really good, too. http://www.borrowlenses.com/category/nikon_telephoto You get a 10 day rental for slightly less than a 7 day rental at Lensrental (for some things).
  5. While we're on the subject of tripods and heads, have you tried Feisol tripods before Greg? http://www.feisol.net/ My buddy with a D300 and a butt load of Nikon gear swears by them. When he visited SF last year I got to check out his tripod and it's amazing. The ball head is very good, too. He paid ~$300 for a CF tripod + head from Feisol. It's half the size as my Manfrotto 3031 when it's closed, and taller when extended! Very solid when holding up his D300 + grip + 80-200 f/2.8. I'm going to pick one up most likely.
  6. Changed the perspective so that it's more accurate. Had to crop off the corners of course, but that's the only downside. Added a faux graduated ND effect to the top so the shot is balanced. Beyond that no changes. PS: Excuse the compression artifacts on top.
  7. Thanks Greg! I have LR3 but haven't put it through it's paces yet since I only just got it. I'll give it's distortion control a try; sure beats spending a bazillion dollars on a T-S lens.
  8. It looks like an amazing lens. If I didn't already own the Sigma 10-20, I'd get the Tokina. Some recent photos.. nothing too spectacular: Part of an unused freeway offramp (3 stories up in the air) in downtown. Sigma 10-20mm @ 10mm. Plenty of distortion, but it works (might try adjusting the perspective on it). Some photos from Japanese Tea Garden. Heavily saturated, but that's what I was going for. All shot with the Canon 50mm f/1.8.
  9. 70-200 f/2.8L is a killer lens. Do you have it in IS? And the new II version? I wish I had it with IS.. but I'm happy with it being 2.8.
  10. Canon 70-200 f/2.8L (non-IS).
  11. You think I could've asked you to get rid of it though... lol.
  12. Great work, Greg! These two were taken last night at Vista Point in Sausalito, CA.
  13. Very good! Had it since my D30 back in 2005. I am itching for something like the 17-40 F4L (mostly because it's weather sealed and has USM), but I don't want to lose one whole stop.
  14. Very close! ISO 100, 30 seconds @ f/10. Canon EOS 7D with Tamron 17-30mm f/2.8 @ 17mm. And yes, shot right at dust during blue hour (8:10pm).
  15. Excellent work, Greg! Took this one a few hours ago per my sister's request (she's moving to Salt Lake City and wants photos of SF on her wall).
  16. Yeah, I usually post on eLance.com. There are a lot of good sites these days that let you put up identity/branding projects. Figured I'd post here to see if anyone could whip something up.
  17. Anyone want to make a logo? Looking for something very simple that incorporates the name. Colors: Don't care, but prefer: blue, red, gray/silver, black Format: Vector format (PDF, AI, SVG) Not looking to spend much, but will pay a reasonable sum for quality work.
  18. Thanks for the great comments you guys; I need to go shooting more though. Taking many trips this year (road trip to Vancouver, Salt Lake City and then either Greece or somewhere in Asia [Japan preferred]).
  19. Canon 10D + Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 for all these shots (except the last) SF's Sixth Street Exit ramp 200mm, 15 seconds @ f/14 SF Downtown Skyline from Potrero Hill 170mm, 15 seconds @ f/9 -- stitched together from 7 shots SF Downtown Skyline from Pier 5 -- stitched together from 5 shots
  20. Slightly older photos (3-4 months old) taken with my first roll of B+W Fujifilm Neopan ISO400 film and a Nikon EM w/ a 50mm f/1.8. The first one is obviously not taken by me.
  21. Thanks you guys! I saw these beautiful clouds over SF before the sunset and wanted to make my way over the bridge but got caught up running errands. Boy, was it ever cold out there. Not to mention a non-carbon fiber tripod is very cold to the touch, haha. Very nice, birch trees are awesome! We used to have tons of them in the Motherland. I actually have one growing in my backyard, to bring a little bit of Russia home, haha.
  22. Just a few I took two days ago.
  23. http://om.ly/IeSZ BRILLIANT... absolutely genius.
