One reason the price of diesel has gone up is because DOT requires more additive in diesel now. The way it used to work each company had the option to add diesel additive. Now when the diesel comes through the pipeline and stored, additive is added. That just started this year. Also each company can add more additive if desired. Also here in Tennessee at the oil terminal I work at, we are selling 87 for around $1.50 per gallon. At the pumps, they are charging around $2.10 and in TN there is a $0.32 tax for every gallon. Diesel is being sold for around $1.50 per gallon also, but at the pumps they are charging around $2.20 per gallon.
