Thanks, and Carlisle next year sounds good to me. We have many beers to drink and some signs that need relocation 😂

Dude yes! So many sign relocations, as well as some flags for the shop and the front door of my apt

I think the shipping charge here is a tad steep for something that small. You could try Amazon too if you know exactly what you're looking for... http://www.parts-express.com/cat/fuses/1414

Thanks Matt. I just need a 250V 4A internal amp fuse. Tried amazon before on other fuses and didn't get the correct ones, the diameter was way off (they were tiny) so not sure how to discern the difference.

  3. Figured I would post here before joining audiokarma or an audophile forum, although I still might.

I have had a Harman Kardon 330c for a few years now and it has performed beautifully got it for $25 at an estate sale and has really warm sound and I love using it with my records.

Issue, I had a roommate who had a party about a month ago and I was at work and while I was there, they used my receiver with an aux cord for music, no worries. Done this 100 times, except this time someone turned it way to high up and blew something within the receiver. I believe this to be the case because the two external fuses in the back are completely intact but there still is no sound coming out of the receiver. Each of the speakers are still functional but the receiver is just not putting out any sound. There are so many parts within these things and I am just curious if someone has any idea where to start or something to look at.

    Thanks.

I believe PDV Motorsport and they were out of stock when I looked a few days ago. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't it serve as a wear point so the rest of the awd system avoids damage?

I would not know the answer to that question sorry... Yes that's them. It would make sense though with the physical strains being put on the AWD system that upgrading that could in turn put more stress on things that weren't meant to be stressed. Best to ask Andy or H I would say. I know Andy has it and I thought H had it before the XR demise.

Yes that one, I believe it's original seems to function perfectly but I guess for the expense it might as well be replaced.

Could get that upgraded one, and never have to worry about it again. Forget who is manufacturing it though.

    sorry man :(

You have a daily though, your sig says you have an 01 v70?

I have a 98 Coral AWD but due to other circumstances with my parents 99 XC70 I have been letting them borrow it for some time now... so a daily would definitely rectify this whole situation.

Dude... bummer.  Been there.  You will get it fixed though.

I hope so. That entire side of the engine has new seals. Cams, crank, oil pump.

Don't give up tommy. Just take a break for a week or two and get back to it. I'd give a hand if you weren't in Illinois lol.

Thanks man! I won't I'm just voicing my frustration instead of keeping it bottled up cause then I'd give myself a hernia. Thanks for the offer though, I'd take you up on it if you were closer lol

  7. So this happened about 3 weeks ago.

    Resulted in this.

Intake cam seal was flopping around outside of the head behind the cam so obviously that is where all the oil came from. Managed to pop it back in with a screwdriver but I have free towing within 30 miles, so better safe than sorry and got it towed back to my parents house.

3 weeks of waiting on parts and free-time, I got to work.

Long arduous process, mostly me being super paranoid I was gonna monkey up the timing and bend my valves. But all seemed good after lining things up. It isn't too terrible in theory if you have the locking tool and some touch up paint. Both seals were in and all was lined up.

Tried turning it over for the first time, try being the word here and it misfired like crazy. Thought, well that was weird, tried it again, it started to run, but then slowly killed itself... So after working on this thing for around 9 hours, it still didn't run. I knew it was timing related but I rotated the engine again and again, all marks were in line with the cover as well as on the block. Called Brandon as I was completely out of ideas and ready to burn it to the ground. He gave me an idea about the CPS and the little half moon thing inside the CPS, I had marked the CPS sensor to make sure it was oriented properly but the half moon shaped piece that connects to the cam was not in the correct position, I found out. I looked up online and found that since I am running a distributor, that when the engine is TDC, the rotor is supposed to face cyl 1 on the cap, while the half moon shape is supposed to be at the bottom. Clearly was not in the right position.

I rectified this and all went well, it started up and sounded even better than before. No leaks visible. Happy person I was!

Drove for a few days, no boost etc, just to make sure things were kosher. Apparently they are not. I went to soccer on Wednesday night and after leaving I looked behind me to check for oil and sure enough a small puddle timing cover side.... So I drove it back, checked the oil level, it's acceptable, but I am so pissed off at it it has sat since then as I don't even want to look at it.

At least my mode of transportation to work won't leak oil

TL;DR - Cam seal leaked, did timing belt successfully, replaced seals, oil on ground after replacing a week later, ready to destroy it.

For anyone using the cam locking tool I highly recommend spacing it out like the picture here so you don't break off a bolt inside your camshaft. Just a friendly FYI for people who do this job.

Holy stuff!  Secret Santa outdid himself this year for honeyworld.  Coffee and kit for various cups, skiing-t and uva dog bandanas.  Very cool.

  9. Am I limited on my upload limit in posts and such due to the fact I'm not a supporting member? I try to upload multiple photobucket links and keep getting a 403 error screen. If its because I'm not supporting, that's fine, if not, wtf is wrong with posting multiple pictures? Very annoyed.
