  1. Poor kid is going to have a rear sight post indent on his forehead.
  2. I'm not concerned at all with resale. Call it a $150 experiment vs a $500+ dollar experiment. All that matter is that it accomplishes the goal of letting me see if I have the time and desire to ride again. That said, any issues with the bike only need to be resolved to the point that it allows me to run the experiment. I don't need an amazing machine to do that job.
  3. If I had found one available I would have jumped on it. I've now regressed from having disc brakes which by itself is pretty crappy. But it will work for my goals just fine. I've only ridden it once so far so if I can't dedicate the time I'd rather have spent $200 than $500.
  4. Drops aren't bad for the locations I'll be riding but I'm certainly considering switching rims. I imagine these stock cheapos will look like eggs in a month, haha. All in all I probably wont do anything to crazy to the bike as that money could just go into a better bike if I choose to stick with it. Right now is just the testing phase. If I can find enough time to ride despite all my projects I'll pick up a much better bike.
  5. I'm not driving to Tucson, Mesa, or Phoenix for a bike though hahaha. I live in the boonies so the issue of little craigslist content and many more scary plants is a bit amplified. I did go to a local shop and talk to them about tubeless tires though. They do conversions for about $50 per wheel. I'm on craigslist daily so it's not for lack of trying I assure you. The Mongoose is all aluminum frame so it isn't bad on weight. I already run a Camelbak in my 3 day pack rig I bike with (also contains a mini air pump, chain lube, and misc). I'm not new to biking I just didn't want to spend the cash unless I find I have the time to dedicate to it like I want. I don't have to worry about commuting as it's a 45 min CAR ride to work at 60mph ... Not gonna happen on a bike, lol.
  6. I didn't find anything on craigslist and this is a smaller area so it was new or bust. The rough ride has more to do with every plant being covered with nails ... lol I think auto filling tires would be spanked pretty quick here actually. I don't care if the Mongoose lasts or not. It's worth the cash to see if I'll get back into it. Tried riding but I'm still too sick and dehydrated :-/ Didn't go well ...
  7. Looking at getting into biking but didn't want to drop the $1700 on the bike I really want. Went to Wallymart and bought a Mongoose Legde 2.1 - Taking it out this weekend if I'm feeling a bit better. I'm thinking my first goal will be to swap to closed cell foam tire cores as AZ is a bit rough on bike tires.
  8. Bought it and watched it this weekend As awesome as I remember
  9. See Pelosi's statement? That we should celebrate Obamacare for 4th of July ... She even went so far as to say it captures the spirit of our founding fathers ... What a dipshit ...
  10. As a fundamental Christian I cannot fault them. While I wish everyone would come to Christ I see no reason to view what they are doing in the negative. I'm sure that many have seen positive results from such activity. The results just don't happen to include salvation (in my opinion of course). I am a bit curious as to coverage under tax laws though. I'm not familiar enough with the code to know if they would/could qualify or not. At the end of the day the Bible denotes two "churches". The 1st being the body of (all) believers. The second is under the greek work Ecclesia which simply means "a called out assembly". Certainly ANY called out assembly could therefor qualify as Ecclesia. This having nothing to do with the potential legal ramifications of course.
  11. The electronic arms race has been going on for a while now. China has had an IEW eliment the size of a BRIGADE for more than a decade. We're actually behind the curve. The IEW battalion we stood up in Maryland a few years ago is a step in the right direction but, just like the nuclear arms race of old, perpetuates the problem in a way. I remember when they started filling those Maryland positions because people in my MOS were/are uniquely prequalified. They came down and tested anyone willing with series of incredibly in depth tests. I passed the first two but couldn't continue due to a medical issue. The overall expansion and integration of the NSA (into the military) has been extremely fast passed so far. Some would say that we're creating a monster ... Perhaps we have ...
  12. The Feds can't go after him because the American people will be too pissed off. That said, we have an awefully short memory and will soon forget and therefore grant permission for the Feds to move in. Snowdens best defense is additional information preperly secured. He looks to be a smart guy so maybe he has done this appropriately. As far as discouraging others from doing the same ... Ft Huachuca is still the MI hub of the military and there's a huge push here to turn in anyone even on suspicion alone. THAT is the scare tactic.
  13. You all may want to learn what actually happened in regards to that shoeting (I'm so funny). It wasn't a pickpocket it was an ARMED badguy trying to rob the patrons. That's why it was immediately ruled on the scene to be self defense. Try getting your news from a source which doesn't spend all its time sucking Obummers ... whatever ... There's even footage of the event with witness statements saying that our badguy pulled a gun while demanding cash. Now, our "hero" did shoot the badguy while said badguy was running away (I'm not a fan) but at the end of the day it's wrong to call our dead badguy a "pickpocket" and not mention that he himself was armed and threatening people.
  14. Remington 870 over a Mossberg 500 (any varient or knockoff) every time. Best selling shotgun of any type in history for a reason. Over 10 million sold since 1950 with a milled billet reciever the whole time. The shell lifter design has always been drastically superior to the Mossberg also. Anyways, for anyone looking for a compact shotgun to use for home defense (which means the older children and the lady need to shoot it as well) might I suggest the Rossi Tuffy .410 It's a single shot but that all that is really needed for 98% of circumstances within the home. Only 3 lbs total weight, a .410 load will cover your indoor needs, very light weight, 18.5" barrel, hardly kicks, 2.5" or 3" shells, $160ish price tag brand new. Not built for ultimate durability but it has the same tried and true design as the H&R Pardner single shots. Leangth of pull make it too short for anything else though unless you add a pad and lose your buttstock storage. I picked one up not too long ago because Sarah couldn't handle the 870. Even with the six position stock the length of pull was a bit much, overall weight was high, her forearm was fully extended, and the kick would know her little 100 lb frame around. The Rossi she can handle just fine withthe 2.5"ers or threes. I'd suggest #5 shot for in home use as it deforms and loses the majority of it's kenetic energy after passing through a single wall even at close range. Buckshot and slug options are out there but I would save those for the zombies ;-)
  15. What they are doing is wrong. More importantly, (we can asssume) what they have been doing and will continue to do that hasn't yet come to light is just as (if not moreso) wrong as well. Without oversight one can always expect that the bounds will not only be pushed but broken under the "Better to ask forgiveness than permission" logic. A million or so example should do. That said, almost a decade in military intel and electronic warfare and I don't even bother trying to hide anything I do. Take from that what you will ...
  16. Well, at least we lasted 57 pages before this ...
  17. The systematic destruction of the family unit (perpetrated over the past several decades) is the reason we're at where we are today ... In the shitter ...
  18. Ohio law: Magazines holding over 31 rounds makes the weapon an "automatic firearm" -> Shooter had a 40 round mag.
  19. We might disagree politically but ... Yeah, same here. Sarah wont even call to find out a few initial details about a car for me. When we actually go to look at a car she just gets back in the wagon and takes a nap. I've had several sellers either change their minds on selling it to me because I found so much they weren't telling or just go back inside their houses and wait for me to finish going over it, haha.
  20. Check the start of this page. I wrote long details responses towards specific points brought up by Burn-E. However, in the end, facts are meaningless to some people. Also, the use of proper terms can only be called derogatory when they are used with a derogatory connotation. It's like the difference between saying "Jew" and "JEW". Derogatory - tending the lessen the merit or reputation of a person or thing. Niether word is derogatory. Additional verbage would be required to claim the statement (as a whole) is derogatory.
  21. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA hahahahahaha, THIS^ is why liberals will never learn.
  22. Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that our critical infrastructure is up to snuff. Actually, I find it to be exceptionally vulnerable. I'm simply pointing out the stupidity of the author and idea as a whole. Especially considering that the supposed threat (if the individuals had been terrorists) is WILDLY exaggerated from start to finish. There are other places where terror like strikes could cause significant damage but this facility (or any facility like it) is not one of them. I know you know that I prep (even though it's a secondary idea). Within the community of people like me there are those who have their tinfoil hats on a little too tight. Those people actively research potential targets if the US population were to revolt against the government. I can't help but happen upon their articles as they tend to pop up from time to time even in some of the places where I can typically get tin-foil-hat-less information. Even they agree that to target locations like these does not work out in cost/benefit analysis. This reminds me of everyone scared after 9/11 about poisoning of water supplies. Not realizing that even a small water supply tainted with a highly toxic substance would require HUGE amounts of the contaminant.
