  1. Wanna do mine next? I can drop it off any time. :P That really looks great, I can't believe how far this has come since you first bought it.
  2. That seal is the worst. When I replaced the oil cooler hoses in my XC I had to R&R the thermostat several times to try and get it lined up correctly, and I never really got it in there well enough that it didn't leak. I eventually replaced the thermostat with one from a junkyard car because the original was making noise at startup. When I pulled the JY unit, the seal stayed stuck to it so I left it alone, installed it as-is, and it hasn't leaked since. Kinda hokey, but it worked. :D It does seem like the replacements for that seal are oversized, even from the dealer.
  3. Glad you got the leak fixed-which valve spring compressor did you use? I'm planning to replace the stem seals in my XC at the same time I do the timing belt but I haven't gotten a compressor yet.
  4. Yep, doing it on an AWD car is a pain without a lift. I replaced the rack in my XC last winter with the car on jack stands and it sucked. Replacing it might be easier in a FWD car since there's not as much stuff in the way. Sorry to read you had so much trouble Andy.
  5. Sounds great! The smoking could also be valve stem seals, unfortunately.
  6. The 2000 R mufflers have a nice tone compared to the '98-'99 style. If you'd snagged my car you wouldn't have had to touch the exhaust! Glad you found a car you're happy with-having his and hers Saffs is pretty cool.
  7. I'm running Primacy MXV4s on my XC. They're nothing special but they're nice tires for a daily driver.
  8. What speakers did you use in those subs? I have a Kappalite 3015 in my homebuilt bass cab and it goes scary low.
  9. What year is the 850? I recall reading somewhere that the only difference between the '96-'98 transmissions and the '99 4-speed is the sensors, which can be swapped.
  10. Last weekend I bought a set of JBL L80Ts that have restored veneer and freshly refoamed woofers. They're a major improvement over the Sansuis I had before (what an understatement!) but as some AK posters have discussed their treble can be a little harsh/forward. I'm debating whether I should try the L80T3 crossover mod (or just find a set of them) but I'm gonna give myself a little more time to see if I get used to them first.
  11. Some nice gear in this thread. Right now I'm running: -Yamaha Natural Sound A-700 amp -Yamaha T-1000 tuner -Some Optiumus CD changer. It's not pretty but it gets the job done. -Thorens TD160Mk.1 w/Shure V15 III cartridge -Some big Sansui speakers from the 80s Right now I'm happy with everything except the speakers. They work but they're nothing special.
  12. This thread has been tiding me over while I've been working on getting my '00 R roadworthy-not saying I'm going to copy everything you've done, but it might end up being very similar. Nice work!
  13. I'm going to be watching this thread closely-both the 2000 V70R I just bought and my '98 XC (which just passed 240K) could use some refreshing in the rear suspension.
