It would help explain why the driver was upset. But no, it really wouldn't matter. I completely agree, and it may not have been clear in my reply, but I'd argue I hate people who travel in the left lane A LOT. In fact, pretty sure I've bitched about it on VS at least 10 times. As for hwy minimums, MA is 45mph (with a 65 limit). Don't think I've ever personally seen a minimum sign for any higher than that, but I'm sure they exist. And the minimum part is irrelevant, because he was already breaking the law by traveling in the left lane.

Wow, you guys have a low top and bottom speed limit. Here in the great state of Michigan top is 70/75 and bottom is 60/65 mph. We also have yield left laws, meaning if someone behind you is traveling faster you must move over and yield to them. Its illegal to a pass on the right when traveling on the highway. Also the far left lane is used as a passing lane and is not considered a travel lane, majority of traffic should be in the right lanes. When people follow the rules traffic flows well.

Would it matter? People need to learn to move over for faster traffic. If I am traveling at 70mph in the fast lane and someone is coming up on my tail I move over and allow them to pass. Then I can move back over once they have passed, its really not that hard. It improves traffic flow and safety. No reason to be traveling 50-55mph on the highway anyways. Most states have a highway minimum of 65mph so 50-55mph is breaking the law.

I always wish more cops would do this.
