  4. This topic is Bull stuff Illegal imigrant will come to this country as long as it is profitable to them. And no amount of Bitching by you guys or anyone else is going to stop it. Poor Canadians don't come to america illegally because it would idiotic for them to do so (why give up free health care), not because the Canadian governmnt knows where they are.
  5. I recently came across this article written in "The Jewish Weekly" http://www.thejewishweek.com/top/editletco...php3?artid=4825 I for one find this extremely respectful and thought provoking for both Muslims and our Jewish cousins. The author really drove the point home by quoting an example of how Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) showed us (Muslims and the world) how to respect each other. If one really wants to get a muslim's full attention, just quote the prophets, any of them, I for one will always listen. Peace
  6. I too have noticed this trend, especially here in America, not so in Canada. But then I haven't been in Canada for five years now.
  7. I guess we don't share the same sense of humour...
  8. /Quote First off this is my very 1st post on this particular section of the forum: If this is all about freedom of speech..... So let it be.... But also be considerate of those who do not have freedom of speech in their countries.... Most of the protest killings and etc are coming from countries where people do not have the freedom of speech. In fact the only Muslim democratic country on the face of the earth is Turkey and yes there were protests there but no killings..... So the bottom line is if one is to publish comments or comics you need to keep your audience in mind.... In this case I don't think anyone is questioning the freedom of speech but more like the image that the paper is trying to portrait. A little history lesson: In WW II there were a lot of German publications brain washing the public to hate the jews, if you read everyday on the paper negative things about a certain group of people you will have a bias, after Sep 11th we had a similar thing in the US about the "war against terror" w/ the idiotic yellow, orange terror alerts among w/ all sorts of messed up publications all over the place..... Most people rear stuff like this and believe every word of it.... Regardless of what the story is, media controls the opinion of the public and possibly brain wash bunch of people.... That goes beyond "freedom of speech" If you piss off bunch of people get ready to deal w/ consequences.... But their response (offended people in this case) should not be in terms of killing others.... /Quote Well Said... /Quote I am talking about American Muslim citizen, people who came hear to get away from the lack of free speech. I realize in other countries if they speak out they will probably get hurt but I am talking hear in America. The media is biased and there fews of this are of a political nature but they are not the only news source you can get. /Quote It was the American Muslim citizen I was speaking about who are speaking against the violence, like I said read what http://www.cair.com says about the various muslim issues, they generally speak for most of us here..... /Quote I went to Egypt two months ago, and they hear word usa.. big no-no, population of egypt is 77 million. So Kashif Religion is really important for them. /Quote Go to France and say U.S.A. that's also a big no-no :lol But seriously the government in Egypt is one of the most brutal dictatorial government in the middle east, they love it if people would blame others like the U.S for their problems, it detracts attention from their own ugliness. And I highly doubt all 77 million hate the US, actually many of the youth love US culture and their movies, but maybe not the policies....
  9. We also condenm killings out loud on the street but you of course would not hear about it. It easier to sell the image of a crazy muslim then one of peace one. And if someone places their own political interests above the Prophet's (pbuh) teaching then they are not real muslims... I would say that even if there are even a couple million out of 1.5 billion, then according to my math skills its still a few....
  10. You obviously don't attend Muslim services during friday. Go to one and you'll see we condenm it everytime. If you want our official political responses go here http://www.cair.com And for the record as a Muslim here on Volvospeed I condenm the killing innocent children and family, anytime it happens to anyone of any race, creed, or religion. It even said in the Quran as it is said in the Bible that "the killing of one life is like that of killing all of mankind, and saving one life is like saving all of mankind". Peace :)
  11. Malcolm X was becoming one our high-profile caller for peace and tolerance during the 60's but that all changed in Feb 1965. :(
  12. We are, if one goes to the Mosque we are told to control ourselves and remember what the Phophet (Pbuh) would teach. But you can't control everyone, that's not possible. Plus some countries want the extremist to cause a problem so that their own domestic problems get concealed.
  13. I would say, you should not condenm a whole religion due to the actions of a few....
  14. One way of understanding my muslims are so angry about these cartoons is because the Phophet (peace be upon him) is mentioned in revervence everyday, and he is as close to us as our parents are in some respects. Drawing these defamatory cartoons is like drawing an ugly picture of every muslims mother or father. Of course this does not give people the right to violently protest and burn things down but it does frustrate us. But even during the prophet's (peace be upon him) he was constantly insulted both verbally and physically. One would ask what He would do if He was here today? This story might explain what he would have done... When he used to live in Mecca and was first teaching people about Islam he would constantly be attacked for his beliefs. As he would walk to his home, he would take a certain path. As he would walk down the street there was a women who would try to throw garbage on him from her balcony. Now she would do this to him everyday on his way home, but he would never say anything ill to her. One day she stop throwing trash on him, and He wondered, why has she not thrown trash on me today? So he went up to her home and knocked on the door. The women asked him Who's there. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said "It is the man you trash on everyday". She opened the door and asked why he was here. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said "How come you did not throw trash on me today". The women said, I am sick and I did have the energy today". The Prophet (PBUH) said is there anything I can do for you, to make you feel better? Now the women was surprised and said "I throw garbage on you everyday and today when I am sick, you are asking how I am and how to help me?" The Prophet (pbuh) said "Well I was concerned for you well being, you are one of God's creatures just like anyone else". After this the women was so impressed with Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) she vowed to never do it again and even accepted Islam. I am sure the Phophet would have ignored these cartoons due to his exceptional behaviour, and instructed the muslim to also ignore it.
  15. Don't forget our healthcare system. The American system is a sad joke, there is no healthcare here, only the people who can afford it get it. There something called medicaid for the poor but that is pathetic, most doctors out right say that don't accept patients on medicaid because it does not pay them what they want. They spend over 13% of their GDP on healthcare and still they don't have universal healthcare. Where as we spend rough 9% of our GDP on healthcare and have universal coverage.
  16. But the awesome thing about Canada is that he can only go so far. I was talking about the Vote of no Confidence and the Liberal scandals with some of my colleagues, and they were saying wow, you mean politicians in your country are actually held accountable for their actions.
  17. Oh come on Jean Charest pnws Manning. The moment Reform joined the PC Manning became Joe Clark. And Kim Campbell, man I feel sorry for her. She will always be known as the fall women for Mulroneys nuttyness during the 80's. The man was Regan's little dog.
  18. The Bloc see Harper as a Reform party leader and not a PC party leader. On the weekend before the election the Bloc said that a vote for the Conservatives is a vote to Alberta and Western Canada. Plus I highly doubt Harper will really put anything into the Budget that the Bloc will like. On the flip side of this Minority government I have heard of talk were the Liberals will sort of control parliment. Since the NDP and Bloc are more left of center like the Liberals I have heard that the Liberals will get more of their ideas and their versions of Bills passed using their natural alliances with the NDP and the Bloc. Thus shutting out the Conservatives and Harper.
  19. Yeah he was orginally PC back in the old days. He used to be PC party leader after Kim Campbell, but I still think western Canada would still embrace him due to his PC heritage.
  20. What about Jean Charest, do think he might leave the Preimership of Quebec to become our new Prime Minister. He would clean up, Harper would not have a prayer against him, heck I would vote absentee for him.
  21. Watch, 6 Months of Harper, and were going to lose it.
  22. A vote of no confidence is coming in the next 6 months.
  23. Go out and Vote guys. Unfortunately I can't here in the States.
  24. "Harper also repeated his crowd-pleasing pledges to crack down on crime, shorten medical wait times, reduce the GST and boost military spending. While Harper was boasting of what he would do, Martin was warning about what the Tory leader wouldn't do. He noted that Harper has vowed to kill a planned national child-care program, renege on Canada's commitments under the Kyoto climate-change accord and renegotiate the recent $5-billion deal with natives. In contrast, Martin highlighted Liberal promises such as child-care funding, a ban on handguns, better health care, and paying half the tuition for university and college students in their first and last years." I just read this from Yahoo.ca news. Boost Milary spending, reduce the GST. Who are we, Republicans. I know the GST sucks but it's a necessary evil and by the way was it not the conservatives who came up with the GST?
