Ladies, and primarily gentlemen, I present to you my long awaited build thread, in lieu of all the others. I hope you all enjoy it.
First, some background (of course).
I was born in 1996 to an registered nurse and car salesman. That car salesman, I'm sure many of you know very dearly as our one and only, sjmcarz
Now, fast forward to 2011. I was 15 and hungry for a project car before I became eligible for my driving permit. VOILA, my father Scotty finds this diamond in the rough.
A 2000 Emerald Green Metallic (or Olive) V70R. Was sitting under a tree for god knows how long. Owner was asking $3000, claiming all it needed was to be buttoned up and it would be fine. Apparently he was also a prick because the bolt for the tensioner was stripped, so it presumably had a bad head.
So after talking him down to $700, it was towed to my driveway .
Following that, we ran a compression test and IIRC, cylinder 3 was dead and all the others were all over the place. Ya know what that means?
2002 B5244T3 from an S60 2.4T with 85k. Yes boys, AN LPT RN SWAP.
An there she was, the new heart for my baby. All wrapped up in plastic.
Towed that jawn home and got to work on it at some point....
Replaced the water pump
Timing belt
Resealed the oil pan
Installing fuel rail with the Green injectors. Look at those arms!
Also redid the PCV, put a Xemodex ETM on (but switched it for a yellow label later due to an issue), put in spark plugs etc etc.
And of course we rebuilt the stock Mitsubishi 19T that came stock (shaft play and what not). We tapped a new hole to run the updated lines from the new engine on it as well.
Then we dropped it in.
This was all done over the course of about a year and a half. We got the car in later October 2011, and finished it up around December 2012-January 2013.
What I dont have pictures of is the driveshaft, which got rebuilt by Colorado Driveshaft.
The transmission also died around February of 2013, just after I got my license, so it was out of commission for a month after that. We swapped a rebuilt/refurbished one from Volvo in (in our driveway lol). Apparently the techs at the dealership were dumbfounded with that, but they're spoiled .
The last real maintanence thing was the evaporator, so in June/July 2013 that was taken care of. We used an OEM unit.
Once everything was all sorted, that means modification time!
First mod was a boost gauge to keep an eye on things.
Snabb intake pipe
Old steering wheel that didn't even match. Replaced it with an '00 R wheel.
Europlate
Little background on that. It says Martian, like an alien. Aliens are typical imagined to be green, so theres that. My last name is also Marziani, which translates from Italian to English as Martians. Go ahead, Google it. On top of that, the Iron mark that Volvo uses as it's emblem was also used in Roman times for the symbol of the god Mars. So yeah I guess I shouldn't be driving any other car.....
Back on topic,
Amsoil cone filter with EST shield
As you may see, there is a red wire with a fuse attached to it coming from the battery. That means sub!
Heres the link to the thread for that
I also have the USASpec iPod adapter module thing hooked up, which paired to my newly acquired Dolby setup, as well as the Alpine SC-610 coaxials I installed a while ago, sounds beautiful. This sound system is great. Full spectrum and great audio quality.
More cosmetic mods
Black spoiler, which in the right light, you cant even see it's a different color. Caught a lot of people off guard at Carlisle.
Comets!!!!
And what changes a cars look more than wheels? Ride height!
Before, with the Satellites
Now with the Comets and iPd blues in the front, drop bolts and diy springs in the back
And OEM Jewels. Heres a snap from Carlisle 2014
Also should add that we repainted the bumper and I buffed the paint before Carlisle. Reallllly brings up the color and depth, I highly suggest it. Along with waxing.
I'm sure I'm forgetting other parts and pictures but I think this is enough to read lol. More to come.
