I have a 98 Volvo S70 T5. My air pump quit working about 4 years ago and I've been getting P0410 Secondary air injection system malfunction. This year, I could no longer pass an etest in Ontario, Canada if the secondary air system showed a fault so I decided to try the air pump delete method. I've soldered an N4005 diode directly into the ECU. After about a month of driving I was able to go all the system to "ready" status and successfully passed the etest yesterday. It appears that the ECU thinks that the air pump is operational. Thanks VolvoSpeed forums for this great write-up. This saved me a lot of trouble. PS. The P0410 code has not come back and no check engine light!
