  1. I'm glad you stayed on Mike, you make some good points. Actually I'm pretty sure Osama said he must convert or destroy us because we invaded Iraq in the Gulf War to liberate Kuwait and stabilize the region. It was a serious violation against his religeon to have infidel soldiers on Muslim soil. We had done nothing to infuriate a rational person prioir to 9-11, let alone to invite that sort of attack that killed nearly 3,000 US civilians. In fact quite the opposite. For example, we in the West (US, Europe, Russia, yes even China are "West") all have more than enough might to simply take that oil. But we don't. We pay and pay well. All we ask is we don't want any cuckoo heads messing up the flow of that vital oil so we take any threats to the area very seriously. You see how rich some of these oil shieks are- it's OUR money! We give them money instead of missiles. And anyone who contends that the US, the EU, Russia, and even China couldn't move in and control that oil needs to do a little more research on the militaries of those places. Now the current Iraq situation is different, we are hanging out with the people and trying to do something that has never been done in modern times- build a country. Militarily we smashed Hussein and his "Republican Guard" in less than three days with very few, (if any?) casualties from the "war" itself portion. On whom we are fighting, I sure hope that we are not dealing with the typical resident in the Middle East. I believe we are dealing with a very small percentage of the population who are religeous nutjobs. They hide amongst the general population which makes our job very, very difficult. I am not sure why the Iraqi civilans don't rat these poeple out every single time they see them.
  2. Come on Mike. Think about that. So by this logic, what should we do once they come here? Not fight them because they might hurt innocent people? Let them take over? Not me!
  3. \ Glad you enjoyed it. Each time we do this, we all come away with something and we are all better for it in many ways. Iraq is a mess. I think we all agree that not changing what we are doing is THE worst thing. Some think we should abandon ship, other think we need to start fighting this as it should be fought.
  4. +1. He just hung himself on his own logic. In fact, I'll offer if its about oil, Venezula is far easier and local!
  5. To all. The news on Foley was finally reported by ABC at the beginning of October I believe. This is known as an "October Surprise"- a common election tactic. The point is the news media and the Dems had known about this since April and allowed the boys to be endangered in the meanwhile to hatch this AS an October surprise. If the Republicans knew, they are equally culpable. No one is sure who knew what and when as far as the Congress. Obviously the news media knew about it. My guess is that rumors are part of life on capitol hill, most are unfounded and most rumors don't get attention since most of these guys are just too busy to become detectives. The most important point is that during a war such as this, the Democrats scheme and execute and in the process, this countries interests be damned. And Evolve, name one Republican exposing a Democrat situation. And we did a fine job getting rid of Saddam, we are just having a hell of time leaving the country in any kind of true order with the way we are doing it now. And the Bosnians didn't kill a single American, Al Qaeda killed nearly 3,000 civilians in New York. Saddam killed 300,000 Kurds and over 1,000,000 (million) Iranians with WMDs. Yes, he had WMDs -and USED them. Regardless, you must support our speedy intervention in Darfur.
  6. Since you'll no longer have a Volvo, how much for your 1712 post count? I think I need to buy my way to Level 3.
  7. Shining light on the dirt: "there are indications that Democrats spent months circulating five less insidious Foley e-mails to news organizations before they were finally published by ABC News late last month, which prompted the leaking of the more salacious instant messages. Harper's Magazine said yesterday that it obtained the five e-mails from a Democratic Party operative, albeit in May, long before the election season." From the Washington Post article today. I hope you liberal-media spoon-fed, Democratic voters out there are proud of the SCUM you vote for. You should be outraged and completely ashamed of yourselves. We're trying to fight a nasty war here folks, our young men and women are dying, and yet the Democrats consistently PULL THIS SHIT. They are so arrogant and self-centered. Putting their return to power ahead of the interests and future of this country. Yes, the Republicans could have done a far better job than they did but they are nowhere NEAR as wholly f'cked up as these jerks.
  8. B)--> QUOTE(Plan B @ Oct 11 2006, 06:59 AM) ← This thread is not about war. Anyway, back to Foley. apparently he likes ethinc guys Boys actually.
  9. So why do you support the Bosnian War and not the Iraq War?
  10. Iraq and Afghanistan are not failures. The Taliban was destroyed, Osama is in hiding (or dead is my guess). Saddam and his sons are gone. I agree that the way we are fighting in Iraq is to lose. We had better focus or get out. And there is no hypocrisy. I probably would have supported the Vietnam war at its beginning, but again, the WAY in which it was fought was to lose and we did. This country lacks the resolve to win extended wars that get messy. We ovethink things to death while we sip our Starbucks. Then we finish our drink and decide that just because there is a slight possiblity we might be wrong, or that some innocent people would be killed, we decide just to play it safe and pull out. This country has immense power and capability but the enemy's best weapon is to turn us on ourselves. And I'm not sure what you mean by blinded. The list of events under presidencies is both good and bad events.
  11. oh contraire mon frair That's when it was INVENTED! Mr. Limbaugh I believe. And it is very true to this day.
  12. Let's go back. Nixon, Johnson. oops! I say go back one generation or so. Modern history. So here's what we get (items unique to and a result of actions by each Presidency): Nixon, Reagan, Bush1, Bush2: 1. Watergate 2. End of Vietnam War 3. End of Cold War, victory. 3.5 Collapse, Defeat of Soviet Union. 4. Gulf War Victory, Kuwaiti Liberation 5. Afghanistan/Taliban 6. Iraq War Johnson, Carter, Clinton 1. War on Poverty, welfare state, massive shift of gov't funds from infrastructure to social entitlements (Welfare, Medicare) 2. Vietnam 3. Oil Embargo, Oil Crisis 4. Fall of the Shah, Rise of Ayatollah Khomeni, American Hostages 5. Billy Carter 6. Cancellation of B1, Space Shuttle, MX Missile programs during the Cold War. 7. Bosnia
  13. And name me the three significant things that were accomplished under Republican Presidents and Democrat Presidents in the past 30 years. Here we go: Reagan, Bush 1, Bush 2 vs Carter, Clinton Please fill in. I am curious to see what we come up with. And by the way Grant, you may want to rethink that "How much did the world hate us during his Presidency?" scoring system. There should be a bit more to it.
  14. B)--> QUOTE(Plan B @ Oct 9 2006, 09:47 PM) ← Sending emails in not molesting. Good thing for you, Grant, that posting isn't either!

  17. Relgious or not, this is an interesting perspective from a great modern thinker: http://www.bigskyastroclub.org/pale_blue_dot.htm Despite my religous beliefs, it makes me feel very small, cold, and alone (of course with all of you).
  18. By far the best place to get them is from this vendor who is a Liberal Gay Islamo-Fascist activist.
