  1. Inclined to agree with that. FWIW my M4.3 TT setup used to run 11.8-12.2 AFR across the band, no real issue with fluctuation on 630cc dekas. http://www.greenringer.net/video/TTmaptrace.avi
  2. The AFR from 7000rpm onwards wouldn't make me happy. Another rebuild probably wouldn't make you happy either...I'd try to get the other EMS working before spending much more time at high revs.
  3. I don't think you should measure these things at idle. When you start making boost the temperature of the air coming out of the compressor skyrockets because of, well, compression And that's the time when you want the air temp to be as low as possible, at idle it really doesn't matter. If at load the compressor exit temp is higher than your engine bay temp (and J pipe) then wrapping it would be counter productive. Although definitive data can only be acquired on the road doing pulls, generally speaking the rule of thumb is NOT to insulate hotside piping. You'd need to have a particularly hot engine bay for that to make sense. A bit of reflective shielding at the underside of the J pipe might do something.
  4. Almost everybody I know has split that hose at some time or other, myself included. They get tired after a while, very annoying weak spot.
  5. Actually I thought it was more likely an extreme example of "telling voters want they want to hear" regardless of how far outside of reality it is. I figure an M.D. in a science committee who doesn't "believe" in embryology is a bit too far fetched. Unless he lost his marbles recently obviously. Would be true if the current situation wasn't that many politicians cannot be seen to vote for "the other party's idea". The individual merit of proposals has gone to the backseat in recent years. The polarization of politics has left the US with 2 main parties that are falling over themselves to run as far away from the other side as possible, making compromise an ever rarer occurrence. By the way, I can tell you first hand that not having a federal government for a while can go by completely unnoticed Possibly because we had several other governments in place, but you really couldn't tell the difference. Makes you wonder how much money could be saved really.
  6. Brilliant. Loved the vid btw lol. Out of curiosity, where are you planning to go with this? Looking at the constant stream of performance improvements the project seems to be halfway down the slippery slope! At this rate you'll be sleeving a block before christmas.
  7. Politicians? Good luck with that! No matter how you look at it though, at the end of the day people get the politicians they deserve. Looking at the options being presented to you in the presidential elections and clowns like these on your House science committees, things are looking pretty bleak.
  8. I really don't see why unless you have a very weird fuel pressure regulating setup where the diameter of the fittings has screwed something up, the volume of the rail itself is irrelevant. It could be 10 times the volume and it still wouldn't matter. In any case the FPR regulates to a set pressure and it is located downstream from the fuel rail, and the rail itself has no influence on the preload of the spring inside the regulator... Only thing I can think of is that you might have reduced the "backpressure" behind the regulator (the return line fitting enlarged?) which meant that the FPR has a larger pressure difference to deal with now and thus needs to be tightened to get back to the same pressure as before. But it's not related to the rail.
  9. Should be negligible...air is a poor heat conductor + the high velocity of the air moving through the short distance of the compressor outlet (which is rather wide...not like a radiator) means nothing to worry about.
  10. The irony is strong with this one.
  11. So when does editing become lying then? Instead of merely cutting out a sentence, you can also simply re-arrange words and string together a sentence that was never uttered. But, surely, the words used were in fact spoken so = no lie according to you.
  12. Actually most abortions are of embryos, not fetuses. A small detail perhaps, but biologically relevant.
  13. I only said that personally, I'd put the bar of what is acceptable a bit higher. That's not the same as claiming that no honestly religious person can do a good job as president (or at the very least not f*** stuff up) Presidents can have many potential flaws that never get exposed because the conditions aren't there or because they have a safety net of hopefully solid adisers. That doesn't mean that every president who did a decent job was in retrospect the best suited candidate. Might have been of course, but it's non sequitur. Literal religious belief isn't rational but because it's usually merely inherited at a young age it can be well insulated from the regular, reasonable decision making part employed in real life. That doesn't make it a positive asset though. In any case, non-religious politicians currently have little to no chance of making it as far as president of the US. So if your ambition is to become one, you're either going to have to be religous or act.
  14. I wouldn't bring it up unless they brought it up first, I normally couldn't care less but we are talking about electing a president and that would raise the standard I expect from that person. So yes I would say similar things regardless of the particular religion involved. Most people don't have the power to influence my life in a possibly negative way, in that case, whatever makes them happy. You're right, they are all crazy and unfounded. I don't actually mean crazy in an insulting way, but neither do I feel that religious faith qualifies for endless "respect". Irrationality should not be applauded, and childhood indoctrination should be frowned upon. Other opinions (like political ones) are not treated with similar respect anyway. I don't see much of a difference. I don't feel that respect (in remaining silent) does humanity as a whole any favours. Then again I'm not American, I don't take a bath in moral disinfectant every morning. I don't know where people get this idea from that it is their right not to ever see or hear anything offensive. It's a big bad world out there, don't take it too serious. I'm sorry, but the qualities that a "commander-in-Chief" needs to posess are slightly different from those a pastor needs. I'm sure Mitt makes a fine preacher and well-doer when there is no voting or interest groups involved. But if I were voting for anyone in this election I'd wonder more about his ability to respond in a reasonable and intellectual manner to foreign threats, secret intelligence info and whatnot. For that, professing belief in things which conflict with known history and science is not a positive asset. So I'd disqualify anyone who professes literal belief in a particular religious script. Deism I'd find acceptable if nobody else is available. If that's what it takes than a lot of religions (and paranormal crap) just became "real" as well. People are easily convinced. How would they be able to tell if the plates were actual gold and from a divine origin, as opposed to something Smith himself made to kick-start the religion? It's not like he had a reputation for fooling people or anything...oh wait.
  15. On the other hand, it would be nice if you could trust someone running for president to make reasonable decisions based on available evidence. Considering to be a mormon you have to believe that Jesus visited America, the story coming from a known con-man who found gold plates that nobody else ever saw (and which were "lost" afterwards)............ magic underwear...... ........... . ...... That people like this can run for high offices is frankly scary and unworthy of a currently advanced country. That's not to say Obama's "faith" is necessarily better, not at all. I'm with Penn Jilette on this one (unfortunately, he's quite insufferable)
  16. I know reality gets old after a while but we're kind of stuck with it.
  17. Don't you mean get classy [again] ?
  18. Probably looked at Fox news and thought "hey, there's a business model that works" Who becomes the next president should be the least of your worries. It's a hollywood style side-show that distracts the masses from the complete malfunction of the political system.
  19. It's properly moving now H, guess the TT wasn't "maxed out" after all :D
  20. This wasn't a difficult shot but it was extraordinary: midnight sun rainbow at 1:05 AM in Lapland, Finland near the polar circle. Was quite stunning to watch.
  21. Crap, I'm sorry man. In this game you have to take the (frequent) lows with the (rare) highs I guess. There's not many guarantees when you push things far outside the usual envelope.
  22. No need to drive like a granny, just don't load it at low revs (or for too long) and use plenty of engine braking. I think actual break-in time is very short IRL. We beat on Florian's new engine after around 100 miles and it ran extremely strong even hardly used any oil on track (less than my own that had a longer breakin but the same components) 300 miles is considerable...if you can get to 500 and do an oil change I'd be totally happy revving it out and beating on it.
  23. This is pretty hilarious stuff, Rick Santorum might not get it but hey.
