  1. Fishey Pal, While the point you make can be argued both ways until the cows come home, that was not what was being talked about. The claim was that no Muslim leaders speak out against violence and terrorosm and that is utterly wrong. There is proof all over that islam inspired violence is very broadly condemned by muslim countries and muslim leaders in general.
  2. You are scarily wrong there. Muslim leaders who condemn any form of islamic inspired violence outnumber the nutjobs by a huuuuge amoumt. They just dont normally get any airtime. This kind of misinfirmation is outrageous. And on the burning books thing, I couldnt give a toss what they burn but you have to admit that the whole idea behind it is a shambles. The only real intent is a "fuck you" to Muslims and that America can do without. Its not like you'd escape unharmed from the bible belt either if you spray painted "jesus was a fag" on your car.
  3. Kinda have to agree with Captain here Hussein...I think you should get a quality turbo this obviously isn't one.
  4. That's true, I really like my 70-200 for these things but I was with my back against a wall a few times had to do most of it with the 50mm prime, but they wanted a "soft" look so I tried keeping it pretty wide open. (F1.4-2.0)
  5. Tried briefly without a flash but that worked pretty terrible all things considered, especially with the sun constantly coming and going through the clouds. A4 size printed it looks all right luckily. P-wizards on order, I didn't take a reflector even because I wasn't going to need it
  6. Was in Riga (latvia) for 6 days to do some shoots, as luck would have it the photographer and his assistant who were supposed to do the cover shoot and a fashion shoot made the mistake of not getting a visa and were denied onto the plane. So that kind of promoted me to do those...only trouble that I did not feel I was equipped for it with only my on-camera 580 EXII and a bouncer Not even a softbox. Cover shoot was 4 russian singers and a famous producer. Didn't really know any of them though Fashion was just another russian singer. The 5 women were a bit of a challenge to get to agree on everything, and they also had a mind of their own when it came to composition. Still, in the the magazine was very happy with the results, personally I can see room for improvement but that's the trouble with pictures, you can always think of ways how they should be better. The cover pic (not posted) looked quite good with loads of photoshop/airbrush I don't quite like this one, but she specifically requested this (showed me an example at least this bad) frankly first time I ever tried it too lazy to try and do anything about the flare now. Felt like a very bad idea at midday to be honest but everything survived.
  7. Value for money I really like my EF 50mm F1.4, especially with a 1.6x crop sensor it might be a bit long however.
  8. You can get some very very sharp primes for not too much...sharp zooms thats a different game :(
  9. I have the old non-IS version. Tbh I don't see the point spending 1500$ extra for the IS II because the old 70-200 just rocks. If I thought it could be better I'd buy it, but this one is too good..and often I'm dealing with moving subjects making IS a bit moot. Sharpness is second to none already. I loved it on the 7D but on the 5D if anything it does even better. By far my favourite lens for shooting in the open!
  10. Most are a 70-200 2.8L, a few 50mm F1.4 and 16-35 2.8L.
  11. To celebrate the fact that this week I'm done with my desk job and 100% press photographer now...some pics from a few of the interesting venues we were at in may and june. Monaco F1 Charity fashion show event, Monaco Comparing ring sizes with a Sugababe..Liz probably wins there. Dior make up, Cannes Pink Concert, Dusseldorf British singer's flat, London Bored in London hotel room Dolce & Gabbana 20yrs, Milan (no time to be artsy, just get something printable..easier said than done if you turn up too late and there's a rediculously small space allocated for photographers)
  12. No 430 EXII but with a cat that keeps moving, well, it's not hard to be off it was also taken the day I received the 7D and flash so still very much learning BTW, would you believe it, I'm almost sure all my stolen equipment just got sold "used, nearly new" on Belgium's biggest photo forum. Newly registered user, sold below market price, EXACTLY what got stolen. Down to the bag and spare LP-E6 batt. Sent a PM to the mods, maybe they can figure out via PM's who bought it so I can go over the serials with him. I probably won't get anything out of it but goddamn this has made me angry all over again!
  13. Posting one last picture of the cat. Taken a few months back with my 7D and 17-55 which were nicked. He dissapeared a few weeks ago. Most likely died under a car but no trace of him anywhere. He was around a year old, and had come to us during winter homeless and starving. Was a very curious and playful cat, shame He was quite photogenic too lol even though this one only looks good to me in full size.
  14. Got robbed of all my photo equipment on the train to Paris..fucking lowlifes. Only thing saved was my 70-200 which didn't fit in my lowepro and which I carried in regular luggage. The bag was right above my head and some guy spotted me, followed me onto the train and must've grabbed it walking past while many were getting on the train. More than 3 grand lighter Even more considering I now have to buy everything again in Paris at 30% higher prices.
  15. Yes it basically T's off from a sensor. But if you want to monitor both sensors, you need 2 kits.
  16. That may well be true over there. At this end only a small percentage of "tuned" cars are running standalones. The most powerful ones usually are, but those are rare If you have a dyno you can see what works with the advance and what doesnt. The actual values are pretty academic.
  17. Well at least he can log timing, that's more than most of us can do I don't have a clue what timing is actually being used on my engine, but it flies regardless. Most cars are tuned without ever knowing the actual ignition advance values. People just go off what works with these older cars. Now when something should work, but doesn't, that's when it gets complicated and can take a while to find the culprit.
  18. TT lets you adjust the mapping. How ME 4.3/4.4 interprets that map is still the same as ever obviously and not a flaw as you suggest. Its still the Bosch ECU. There is no way to "force" the timing unless you want to disable knock control. If he's getting the timing pulled it's happening for a reason and that needs to be adressed first. Forcing the timing and melting a piston wouldn't do him much good at this point!
  19. + eleventy. I run cheap champion coppers and they run great. And they actually don't even seem to wear much, I used to change them every 10K miles or so out of boredom and because they are so cheap, now a little more often as the car only does 6 or 7K miles a year. Iridium/platinum is BS for turbo cars.
  20. 17 degrees at 6000rpm is good timing. He's not hitting the 256kpa load cells obviously.
  21. Either the government runs things and it's done hilariously inefficient, or you let the private sector handle things and they will a$$rape you and take you to the cleaners. Rock <-> hard place.
  22. Fair enough, but as you know you're already indirectly paying for the inefficient monstrosity that is the US healthcare system. Something that costs at least twice as much as is necessary while at the same time performing sub par is hardly something to cheer for. That's how it was last week, last month, last year. I don't quite see how this bill is making things worse. Projections are this will save money in the long run, even though not much improvement is expected. I can't help but feel that you are ignoring the fact that horribly efficient and expensive healthcare has already been in place for many years. 16% of GDP is rediculous any way you slice it, no? I only bring up Europe because I expected our "socialist" health system to be hopelessly inefficient. Imagine my surprise to see the US manages to spend around double for less. From that perspective, hypothetically switching to something based on the european model could save trillions of dollars to the tax payer. Hypothetically obviously practically impossible. Irrelevant because they are not in that position because of healthcare. Besides, not all US states are doing so hot either. The scale is indeed different so you can't draw any 1 to 1 comparisons. I only brought it up because someone seemed to think healthcare was the single cause for public debt. However, that doesn't mean lessons cannot be drawn about how to organise healthcare efficiently. Either way the economies are of different scale too, US vs scandinavia. But it seems to me that good folks like yourself would rather pay more money rather than less just to keep to government from meddling in "your own matters". Impossible, it's still the government. It's never going to be efficient. But there are levels of bad. And either way, government is a necessary evil. You take the good with the bad. It's been going up since before new year and is still strong at 1.35 to the euro. It's been as low as ~1.60 2 years ago.
  23. About 99% http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_public_debt I can see where you're coming from, but it has nothing to with healthcare. Look at the scandinavian countries which have the highest level of government healthcare in the world, they have extremely low public debt figures. And either way, national debt is another matter http://www.visualeconomics.com/gdp-vs-national-debt-by-country/ albeit out of date (US debt 12.6tr currently)
  24. The funny thing is, I saw an article about the numbers today, and the bottom line is that the hippy commie socialist version of healthcare we have in Western Europe does not only perform vastly better than the 'old' US system, it also costs about half in raw numbers. In terms of GDP, 10.2% (Belgium) vs 16% (US) Higher life expectancy and quality of life go without saying. I hate to give my money to the government as much as the next guy but I don't think anyone can disagree that the system that's currently in place in the US works efficiently on any level. Any amount of change should be welcomed. Even if it's a watered down compromised version that does little of what it set out to do. As usual, the people who are most against it tend to know the least about it. BBC had an interesting article about something similar a while back Why people vote against their own interests http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care_in_the_United_States
