  1. HAHa you guys are funny. WE KNOW dude IPD is EXPENSIVE . Its because they are exclusive i.e. nobody else makes sways and down pipe's. for other cars they cost much less.. You are paying for what they call R&D. That means some dude hit a button on the CAD/CAN coputer and voila, a 900 dollar down pipe that looks great and shiny but noone will ever see. You usually get what you pay for. Except in the case of pipes, welds and flanges. Great video though. by the way I have many friends into subaru's and they think IPD is also overpriced.
  2. re you all running stock springs. I have vogtlands so I'm not sure about the difference between them and Eibachs. Anybody know the different spring rates? Butt measurements accepted (and no I dont want to know the size of your butt).
  3. Man... A methanol block? Why ask the crazy questions when you're the one with all the crazy answers? When I come up on some "real" money I'll know who to ask the "crazy" questions. This thread is a good read for anyone wanting to build a 1000+hp block. Ah, I can imagine.
  4. I think it's amazing that the FSD's cover such limited applications and they have em for our rides. :)
  5. :) I dunno but I would like to know about the group buy. MS2 pls
  6. I agree about oil, not the native americans though. Unless you call genocide better than some other cultures got. Do you really think it's possible to let them just "fight it out"? Whose weapons do you think Israel is using...OURS, our money, our tax dollars. We're in this war whether you believe it or not. Is it a holy war? The terrorists think it is, and from the talk on this board a lot of you do too. Anyone who isn't calling for a cease-fire and calls themselves a Christian is a hypocrite. yup. Go ahead and Nuke em, then see how Iran, North Korea, and China react. This is a prime example of horrible foriegn policy. I can't wait for this 4 years to be over.
  7. In a previous post he showed they do, and I guess no failure so far...
  8. Where'd you hear that? Not doubting just want to check your source cause if it's a bad thing I'll make them independent asap...from my experience good crack will do that also .
  9. I agree they are super pimp. I plan on taking the money I saved and purchasing some. I already did my lower torque mounts by filling in around the stock rubber. Because of the torque these parts see I was more comfortable using the poly that will conform to the part, but if your top mount works I might put some faith in insert pieces for the lower torque mount. I'm not good at taking pictures but I'm trying to change that. If I find poly pieces that will press in I'll post it. How do I close a thread?...
  10. I did mine a long time ago also. I may have started the original thread asking about this . Yeah the guys with that car may have taken all original wires off, dynoed the car, and then hypergrounded it, cause thats the only way they made 15 wheel ponies. But thick guage wires and gold plated connectors are all you need. Daisy chain em to your ecu and youll be 20 dollars poorer. Many threads on this. I think it made my lights brighter, but who knows. The lancer evolution comes stock with these, so they cant be all hype right?
  11. You could make a mold or whatever if you had something to mold from. Yes this is how I plan to make other mounts as they fail. It will work. I thought about using existing poly pieces but I wanted the metal bolt pipe in the middle and I wanted the bolt hole to be in the same place as stock noticing that it wasn't perfectly verticle. Thanks for the extra info I didn't see that post when searching for poly and mount etc...if it works then it works, Id like some poly swaybar bushings too please as I have a friend who wants me to poly up his broken one. Do you have a cheaper 2$ solution for the lower torque mount because I have to do another one of those also.
  12. Nice, Wish you'da posted it The problem I had before is that when I didn't prime it the metal was not adhering to the urethane and I would still get some slop in the engine. Did you have to press it in? The mount is subject to a lot of torque movement
  13. Youre right, the part is cheap, but it's not a solid A Shore 94 poly mount in any form I've seen. Does this matter? Not really. QBM fills in the stock rubber gaps with poly, which will be next on my list for a friends car as it should be quite adequate. Yeah this thread is for you to think about the possibilities. If you bought a stock set of both the firewall mount and the lower torque rod mounts, filled them with the 3m window weld it would be a total of about 80 bucks. You'd still save. If you just use the stock rubber and 3m window weld (Like Road Race Engineering does)all mounts would cost $15.00 total with more car downtime. Is it a money saver? If you do the bottom torque mounts at the same time and fill in around the rubber with a 2 part mix you would save over a hundred bucks (unless shipping is free than you'd save about a hundred bucks). You can do almost any mount in poly. As far as a lot of time, once again thats for you to judge. You gotta take the mounts out to replace them anyway. It took two days and I was chilling out the whole time. So is this a revolutionary idea like a homemade swaybar kit? Nope, not unless Slater runs out of mounts. But I'd put it up against any other mount as far as quality a concern goes. If you're not confident or don't actually enjoy projects, just buy qbm's great products :)
  14. Wow nobody with a "What a bad idea" comment? This forums getting soft.
  15. Well I finally decided to post a how-to. This is my first attempt and It's a long time coming considering all the great info that I've taken from this site. I decided to make my own polyurethane firewall mount using my old stock mount and a urethane mix. What you need to do this: 1. A 2 part urethane mix. 94 shore is probably best used (hard stuff) you can get it at www.mcmaster.com order number 8644K18 for the amount you need, I was lucky enough to know someone with some left over from a big project (think boats) it was A shore 90. 2. Devcon FL-10 primer (flexane to metal). I didn't use this on the first go around and it didn't work so well. The center tube could actually be pushed out with enough force. Plus the second time gave me a chance to take pics. Get it at : http://www.northernsafety.com/cart/cart.cf...SKW=GP306REUR04 3. masking tape 4. A funnel for the urethane mix 5. I used paper to create a template and some pennies, like 30 cents worth. Bring a paper plate to set the paper on for the pouring. 6. Of course the proper tools to take out and put in the mount. I think a ratchet with a 15mm socket and another one, but I don't remember. You will also need a torx set or bit set. If you have tools It's easy to figure out what needs to come off. The windshield wiper blades are first to go. I had to take off my strut brace. I used my lug tool to keep the plastic propped up while I unbolted the back bolts on the firewall mount with a ratchet and short extension. Unbolt the middle bushing bolt first as it will be hard to get off once the others are unbolted. My original plan was to salvage the mounts stock rubber and pour around it, but it was brittle and shot. Before eradicating all the rubber I needed to make a template so I got a marker, a pen and some pennies. More than one way to skin a cat, but I figured pennies would be a good way to measure the height so I wasn't off with the center tube. The center tube is set first on a flat surface. I took a heavy marker and went over the center tube with it so it stamped a mark on the paper. drew around everything else The circles have the number of how many pennies marked in them. so...now some dremel time. I just pulled the center tube out and cut a line down the inside of the mount and chipped it up with a screwdriver, only attack one side as the plastic will buckle into itself: http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k301/gre...llokitty010.jpg some more dremel time and, Make sure you rough it all up real good. Use the primer at this point as it will be easier than pulling things apart later (like I did). Now time to align the center pipe. Use the template. Make sure you use the same pennies as before for each side because pennies are not all the same width. Tape them together at the sides if you do use pennies, trust me on this one. I used one thin piece of clear tape to align the center pipe at the bottom so I could see the template. tape the tube in place and then work on taping it at the top with masking tape. I hope this makes sense. Then mask up the back like this: I got overzealous because the first time I did this I had a leak. The front (where to pour) should look like this: I then set the template on a paper plate and put the mount back on the template with the pennies to keep it all in the right spot. Then mix and pour in with a funnel. This ish is nasty to get on you. WEAR GLOVES. No photos for this cause I like my camera. I poured it up halfway waited and then puored the other half. this is what it looks like when you apply too much tape and take it off too early, wait at least 5 hours....it's way dry by now though: Why do I only have a pic of the ugly side? Nobody'll see that side anyway. Believe it! The center pipe aligned perfectly with the bolt hole using the template you're still laughing at! It will seem a bit slanted because thats just how it was. This project, although super easy, can be time consuming if you don't have everything all at once, expect one whole day of car downtime on the long side to allow the urethane to dry. Still holding well, no more slop in the engine. After all said and done: In retrospect if I were to do this again I would like to try a brand new mount for like 30 bucks and fill in the gaps (like QBM's mount) as it would save the urethane for other mounts, be much quicker, and you don't really need a mount this solid. If you do that, clean the mount with tire cleaner they use to patch tires as it is used to bond rubber cement to rubber. A lot of guys are doing this with a $10.00 3m window weld urethane product, but I've heard it sucks because it's really soft, and takes days to cure because it needs air. The 2 part mixes are hardened by chem reaction. However, some reputable ppl swear by the 3m stuff and it would be the cheapest option.. As for this project, the whole thing will cost like idunno 60 or so dollars for a SOLID poly mount, and you may have some mix left if you want to do more mounts. Once the mix is mixed it's mixed so try to get all the mounts done at once. Is it worth it? If you can locally source stuff like I did, I think yes. Just another option, and remember you can apply this practice to almost any mount. Disclaimer: This worked for me and I didn't get hurt, you might not be so lucky. Read all labels and follow the directions on the products you are using.
  16. Thats pretty smooth man. Looks great. For what it's worth it makes my OMP brace jealous.
  17. nicce. Bump for making the most from my tiny stock injectors (although I still think orange is ugly)
  18. Coulda done this a few times already... I guess Ill bring the camera on my next maint. issue. Do we have a "How to" section, if we dont we should.
  19. HAHAHAHAHA..Tamales too, my friends mom makes bomb tamales for Christmas. Theyre worth my vote.
  20. HAHAHAHA +1 for population control ...just kidding mom, abortion is wrong.
  21. My best friend is an immigrant and he skipped out, I made fun of him because our job is easy and he just didnt get paid, I even laughed at him. Then I told him thanks a lot for showing how much we need you by trying to take down our economy, way to show your support for drainage on my tax dollars,..then he got the last laugh in , and then his engine blew up...im not kidding it happened in that order. That puts me with...yeah I got the last laugh.
  22. Yes this country has an immigration issue, but thats really just the symptom to a larger policy problem. Its the freakin Republicans who dont want to crack down on big business for employing these "illegals" and would rather go after each of the individual illegals. Gimme a break theres no way we could enforce a felony policy, like a million ppl a year? it would just be an unheeded message and cops couldnt handle it, our taxes would all go up. ...who would pick the fruit? Just build a wall for security purposes, noone wants another terror attack. one thing at a time i swear these policy makers always try to propose the whole shabang.. Also Gimme a break with this Mexican nationalism for real, mexico sucks, why do you think theyre all coming here...get over mexico.
  23. by the way calling someone a bugger a bugger is like calling someone an @$$ funk without the n. About the issue I have no comment
