I must say your response was very funny. Anyways, I think its hard to tell a bunch of folks who are by any standard pretty lucky (I don't think those in poverty mod Volvos) about being poor. As for being worse off four years ago I don't think you can attribute all of people's success around here to age. If that were true everyone would be getting richer/more successful all the time. For me the weak dollar is good because I deal with export to Europe. It makes our products appeal much more to the Europeans than even locally produced goods (industrial machinery in my case). I've been at it for the last couple years and my customer base has actually shrunk, so its not a product of my hard work (not that I don't try). The admin is right about the media. Since we are an on demand communications society we must know all aspects of life. Its a fact that depressing/concerning news stories are better for ratings. While I agree that there is a part of this nation that isn't doing to well these days I'm pretty sure that many those people that are in poverty were in poverty 4 or more years ago. The statistics you point out at the beginning of the post seem to indicate the well being of the general middle class (I'm sure poor people don't worry about shorting their shares of Krispy Kreme). But, there are statistics that do show things of this to the contrary. For example, home ownership continues to rise, consumer spending is going up things of that nature. I think you'll find that most people here/their parents are probably where they were or better off than 4 years ago. I guess my real point is your intial argument is probably going to fall upon deaf ears here. It may be that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, but I'm guess most of us fit into the former category rather than the latter. Cheers.
