  1. Great thread, but I've got a question... My father just picked up a 97 850 glt wagon. It had a CEL for our favorite code here. I tried to do this mod, and I am having an issue. I soldered the diode inside the ECU, unplugged the air pump, and cleared the CEL. Now I am getting a CEL, but when I plug in my scanner, there are no codes registered. Cleared several times, but when I shut off and turn on the car. The light comes back. I did this mod to my 98 C70 about 20k ago without any issues. Any help here....am I missing something?
  2. Blacked out S60R in Pleasantville, NY. We were both pulling on Route 120 in opposite directions. Driver looked young...younger than me anyway. Very clean, exhaust sounded good too.
  3. I'm almost 100% positive. I swapped out the O2 sensor yesterday afternoon. No CEL yet, but it did take about 600 miles to come on after the mod. If it returns, I'll remove the ECU and take a look...crossing my fingers for now. Update: 800 miles and no CEL. I think I'm all good. Excellent write-up. Thanks.
  4. Finally got to doing this mod about 2 weeks ago. Very well written. Thanks for the input everyone. I think that I did it right... However, I just popped a code for P0133, front O2 sensor (slow response). Nothing in the code reader for the SAS system, so I know that's all good. YAY! Hopefully the O2 code is unrelated... but makes me worry since the other pin that the diode was soldered to was for the front sensor. I will change the front sensor this afternoon and see what happens
  5. You do know what the rest of the northeast thinks about New Jersey drivers, right? Just bustin balls, you kinda set that one up. LOL
  6. I stay left because I am going faster than everyone else...lol. They should really make an express lane on the parkways. My steady pace, like 15-20 over the limit...not flying, and certainly not driving recklessly. I can't stand the kids in the cars that their parents bought them racing and weaving through traffic like they're in the Monaco GP.
  7. Definitely saw one of those cross countries again. white, really clean, the one without the moose badge. I never race...ever. I just get in the left lane and do a steady (slightly over the speed limit) cruise from the Bronx to upstate. This kid in an M3 was driving like an ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD on the Taconic State Parkway. He flew by me around Pleasantville. You came up on me, and we both took off, ditching him between Millwood and Ossining. Lost you when I got off in Yorktown. Hope you're on here. XC looks good!
  8. Driving home from work...saw, not 1, but 2 very clean white cross countries. First one headed north on the Bronx River Parkway. The second getting on the Saw Mill Parkway around 4, with a moose decal on the fender.
  9. I'm no expert on this topic...but I swear I read you have to remove the vacuum line to the tree, and cap off the tree. Maybe someone else will chime in for more advise
  10. Thanks. I'll give that a shot. Appreciate the help.
  11. How about solenoid delete? I've seen it mentioned a lot, but I didn't read a success story...
  12. Thanks. Gonna go ahead then and add the diode. I'd like to clean things up and remove the solenoid too. My buddy that works on VW's (which use basically the same air pump), said he adds a resister inline. I read every post and I know this wasn't clear to me....Was anyone ever able to accomplish removing the solenoid on Volvos by adding a resister inline?
  13. I've repaired my sas system several times over the past few years, only to have it fail again. Bought another check valve, but to be honest, I am sick of going through this. I'm very interested in doing the system delete. Either in-line or by soldering the tabs in the ecu. Has anyone had issues down the road with this mod?
  14. I like what you do with peeling the plasti dip in sections. Its crazy to see the difference between yours and the stock R.
  15. I just spent the last 2 hours reading this thread. Absolutely insane. I love my Volvo, but I can't imagine doing half the work you did...Scratch that...not even 10% of your build. Looks great. BTW is that pic in Letchworth Village too? I got married at Patriot Hills in Stony Point.
