Greg, what's your opinion on going with 3rd party companies for the 24-70 and 70-200 2.8? I've been reading around about Sigma and Tamron variants, and it seems like each of them excel in different areas, while the Nikkor ones essentially are the best at covering both aspects. One option I was thinking of going for was picking up a used Sigma for now, and then after using that for a bit, grab myself a Nikkor VRII version, but then I'm also thinking that would be silly and I should just spend that little bit more for a VRI then grab a VRII later on when I'm ready.

Glad you like it Pat and that it's relatable! Also relieved that it got to you. I mean, usually stuff I have sent out gets to their address, but there's always that little part in me that thinks "oh my god, I hope it gets to the recipient", especially when it involves USPS.

Great price for that too! 24-70 f2.8 has been on my mind (along with the 70-200 f2.8), I just don't know whether to pull the trigger on them now, or take a bit more time to figure out where exactly I want to go with my photography.
