  1. Okay, unless this really picks up, I'm just going to message everyone to get it themselves for $66-$67, at least that way it's sent directly to you and it will only cost you a buck or two more. Please message me if you have a question.
  2. Someone on another forum was talking about increasing "boost" on his NA....NA's don't have boost, so I suspect the ECU will only deal with timing really. Can't you achieve that with Slater's Cam wheel devise?
  3. I've edited the original post to reflect where we are at the present. I need 10 people by Midnight, Sunday Aug. 27 for this GB to proceed. Please reaffirm that you want to be involved. I can't do it for $60 shipped. It will be $65 shipped. The reason I've done this is due to the "other" alternative and the fact that everything will still have to be shipped to me first and then "re-shipped" to you from me. This is also the reason I couldn't get the price down to where we wanted. Just post up and let me know if you're still in, or have bought by way of the other route, or just not interested anymore. If I have 10 committed at the end of the day on Sunday, I'll still proceed with this GB. Otherwise, I won't.
  4. Slap it back on if it will still go....no one sees it anyway, and my understanding is that it really does serve a function and you should have it.
  5. Here's the update: No matter who I contact and what deal I try to make, it works out to just over $60 shipped to my door, and that's a "lot" of these tools shipped to me in one big box. Then I would have to ship them out to you guys and charge you for the shipping from 37918. So it's not going to be $60, but a bit more. I'm going to check the weight of my Draper tool today and see what it would cost to ship anywhere in the Cont. U.S. and post back. In the meantime, if you don't want to do this group buy, I found that for $66-67 you can get your own sent to you door. So if folks want to order their own without the hassle of me doing all of the foot work plus paying for everything up front, let me know. Since I can't post eBay sales that are not mine in this forum, let me know by email or PM and I'll give you a link to where I'm talking about. Still for $66 or $67, this tool is well worth having. Even with the above stipulation of me getting them and then sending them out, we still need 10 people to participate. So far with one person wanting 2, we only have 4 or so lined up for the GB.
  6. Thanks for your suggestion. I just added that as an edit to the first post. I'll keep it up to date. I'm still negotiating. The company doesn't want to give that much of a shipping charge break like I thought at first. So I'm seeing if it is feasable to have them all shipped to me (they are coming from England) in one big box and from my home send to everyone. We'll see what comes out cheaper. I'll also update that information as things become clear. Evidently they have never dealt with folks in a "club" who live all over the place wanting to order together to save some $$.
  7. The two "software" products you spoke of use a PC (laptop preferable) to look at engine diagnostics and other "hidden" functions. They claim to reset the SRI as well as the SRS light but I'm not sure if the Alex Peper software really does. Some "hidden" volvo data is still hidden from them. The draper tool requires no computer...you just plug it in, but it only claims to reset 1. SRI (service reminder indicator) lamp and the SRS (secondary restraint system, or airbag) lamp. Hope this helps.
  8. Working on it...clarifying exactly how we'll "buy" the item right now. Trying to work it out so each member here can purchase directly for that price so I don't have to get in the middle of doing the money management. That way they can send directly to you as well. Looks very promising at this point.
  9. Not that I know of...but the built in Junction boxes in the '93- '95, along with apparently some '96's have these. Down to $60 if we get 10 or more. Negotiating with another company at this point I found on the internet last night... as the first one was too high and they were not willing to lower prices, just free shipping. This second company is lowering prices as well as free shipping.
  10. Yeah, you guys with the 2 diagnostic junction boxes have got it made. Really wish my car had those...can read the ECC codes too, and clear them.
  11. By the way, you guys do know that it will reset the airbag (SRS) light on 850's, 40 and 70 series Volvo's right? Edited my original post to indicate this.
  12. I'm not that familiar with it. Just know that the little tool really impressed me and it's cheap. I have an Equus Innova 3100 for my regular code reading, but know I can't reset SRS or read other hidden Volvo codes with it, but the draper tool will do the SRS light. Let's see what others say. If the other software seems better and there's more interest in that, then maybe we should switch gears. How much is it typically anyway?
  13. Okay, this attempt at a group buy is over. If anyone wants a fairly cheap buy on this tool ($66-67 to your door), then IM me or email me. Update as of Thurs AM, Aug 24- I need 10 people by midnight Sunday Aug. 27 EST for this to go. Otherwise, this GB will be off. Also, the latest is that I can't do it for $60....it's going to be $65 shipped to your door. Please repost your commitment if you want to go this route. How many would be interested if I can get the Draper Reset Tool for all of us (shipping included) for $60 U.S.? Been talking to this company in England. http://www.ultimatestyling.com/catalog/pro...products_id=894 Instructions for use here: http://www.drapertools-online.com/products...ls/69007ins.pdf No need to take your car to the dealer to get the Service light turned off any more. No need to take the bulb out of your dash. No need to put a black piece of tape over the light on your dash. No need to ignore the ligtht that's on anymore. I used mine today after I changed my oil and my light was out in seconds. Also resets the SRS (airbag) light. (I haven't tried this because it's never been on) Just tell me if you're interested. I believe I have to have at least 10...maybe 15 people....still negotiating this. Of course, I'll try to bring prices down a bit more too. Been talking to another company that says they can do this for $60 shipping included if we get at least 10. (Edited the price above to reflect this) LIST of Possible Participants CRK (wants 2) JHEIII874T5M (stongly interested) Mesoam t5mmmm Did I miss anyone? Please Read I'm not getting the kind of deal (shipping from the UK is killing it) that I thought I could get. If we get 10 people, then 10 of these can be sent to my front door for just over $60 each (in one big box), then I will still have to send them out myself to each person here. Maybe this group buy is not such a good idea after all. However, I have found where you can get the tool shipped directly to you for between $66-$67 using PayPal (depending on the current exchange rate between Pounds/Dollars), but it's an eBay auction and I can't post that in this forum. If you are interested in this tool for that amount, then please email me or PM me and I'll let you know where the deal is.
  14. Where did you buy it? I believe mine was 1/2 inches and it worked for me...have you tried heating it up and stretching it?
  15. Ball Buster Bunch to the rescue
  16. I don't know...you'll have to ask the engineers who thought this contraption up. :o
  17. Yep...finding lots of goodies lately. This is what happens when the Japanman is still on summer break. But...I have a whole list of "honey do's," that I don't want to even begin... so much more fun here.
  18. Don't believe me? Had to go do some checking- You read it here first:
  19. No one's going to believe this, but here it goes. the air travels the other direction...through the ECU box out the front to the radiator. Something about the heat there drawing more heat out...also heat travels up. I believe I read this in Vadis. Anyway, I believe that the other end of the hose...the hose going to the ECU box comes from the air duct- part of your A/C system. So, there is some real cooling going on after all.
  20. About the accordian cooling hose- I had a hole in the top of mine. Electrician's tape pulled tightly around the hose has held up for over a year.
  21. That's funny because I know a guy who resets his '98 S70 service light with the Alex Peper software but can't reset his SRS. He's been contacting Alex but so far not much has helped. That's why I said maybe Alex Peper can reset the SRS...don't know if my friend's issue is his own set-up or the actual software.
  22. Won't do....Volvo only unless you have a Draper tool or maybe Alex Peper.
  23. I would do all of those extra bits if this is the 2nd TB change. If not, then I'd leave them alone and get out cheap...start saving your $$ for the next one because it'll be more expensive because I'd change all of those then. Failure rate between first and 2nd TB on those other parts are very very minimal.
