To clear up the whole "how many died" issue... I have been studying Jewish history from the age of 6 up until now. Jews were NOT the only ones persecuted and killed in the Holocaust. The number was roughly 12 million people who were killed, included in that number were Jews, Christians, Gypsies and other small minorities. The reason that the Holocaust is so important per say in terms of jewish relavence is that the Nazis almost wiped out the entire jewish population. It was probably a dent in the christian and gypsy population but it was close to an extermination for the entire jewish people.
