New info: The Xtec and Apexcone kits use the same ballasts and bulbs but the Apexcone bulbs have plastic bases. The quality is supposedly the same.

H4s are hi/low in the same bulb I believe. If you are getting this for your 850 low beam than I believe you should get 9006? Is this what you want?

I wouldn't recommend getting 30000k kits. Definately worth looking at below 10000k though. Thanks for putting up the graph Chuck. I learned in chemistry a lot about this but there is so much more that can make it more confusing. The basics are shown best in the graph.

Not sure if this will help or confuse people but here goes: This shows the ranges of colours. 14000kelvin is UV light I believe and will look quite purple without a lot of light output. 5000-6000kelvin is the closest to outside daylight you will get.

Just found this pic of my car with the 5000K 35watt Xtec HIDs (I think I said 50watt before but I confirmed they were 35watt)

I have had the HIDs on my car since I have owned them and I have seen no signs of damage to the harness. I also do not get any bulb failure warnings unless the bulb actually burns out, as it did and I have now replaced (no more light warning). These kits are completely plug and play and are designed to be used with the stock wiring harness.

Man I don't know why I even bother. I just got slaughtered over on TurboBricks by some asshole Buzz. Do we all understand that we drive Volvos??? Anyone????

Check the links at the beginning of this thread for differences in Philips and Xtec for pictures. I don't have pictures for 35w and 50w. The 50w will be brighter. Around 5000K produces the most light as it is the whitest light, more than 4300k. 50w will be brighter than 35w but I don't know if that will make up a the difference if you choose to get 6000k or 7000k. The temperature really determines how they will look. For my I like to get the most light. Anyone else got some input on this? At some point I plan on trying out different kits and setting up people to get photos for me - not soon though.
