Im not this extreme, but thats alot of how I feel as well. They say history repeats itself. After this we are going to go into another post WWI containment policy and secure our borders 100% to outside influx and sit back and watch the world go to shit. And then when it finally gets so out of control that North Korea/Unorthodox warfare reaches our borders and we will have to do something. Either way at some point we have to make a choice as to how much shit we are going to take for trying to support the world.

I agree. Anyone who thinks the United Nations has any other purpose other then to try to control the worlds most powerful country (US) is wearing blinders. We need to get out of the UN and get out yesterday.

Does anyone honestly believe that Bush is smart enough to be behind this war? This guy is a moron. If anything, the man with the real power up there is Cheney. And that... is sad.

I agree that from a power stanpoint, yes they have no power. But I beleive as a mass populous control mechanism they do serve a legitimate purpose. As they act as a collective, they can impose law across religous and cultrural lines without masses of people revolting. Normally the UN has worked fairly well in the past about keeping the peace in the most volatile places on the planet. Africa and the Middle East have always had conflict but think of how many things they have diffused. Something needs to happen now in terms of how they do their business now because they have seemed to lost some of the control that they once had.

I think that Bush knows alot more than we give him credit for.

Think about it, everyone says oil and and vandetta. But who actually profitted the most from this war? Halaburton. Look at their profits for the last 2 years, the numbers are insane. Cheney just sits back and rolls it in. I seriously think we should've just offered Bush and Cheney 500M$ a piece not to screw up the presidency. Instead we are left with a debt 700x as large.

True, but without the US as an enforcer, where would the UN be?

Gary

PS- Anyone who thinks Bush or any other president for that matter is the sole decision maker during times of war are sadly mislead.
