Why'd You Vote For Who You Voted For?

What about each candidates personality and or lives made you vote the way you did?

I'm just curious.

For me, Kerry seems like a fake and I don't like fake people. Bush seems like a family guy, and I like family guys, even if they are presidents because they are family guys - f*ed if I care. George seems so much friendlier than Kerry, too.

Even if George was a complete idiot, I'd trust him before I trusted botox face man.

I don't vote based on personality, I did that in Junior High voting for student council.

I feel the exact same way.... Kerry just seemed like a complete liar. I also couldn't deal with the fact that he wanted to pull our troops out of Iraq without the job being completed, that's not how the US works, or ever should. He is on Communist walls as a hero for his efforts against the US in the Vietnam war. His outlook to his future as a politician is what drove him to apply himself for medals (something NO armed forces personnel would ever do, unless they don't mind looking like a complete self-righteous idiot).

Bush is a traditional family man. He believes in Jesus Christ, which is fine. It means he has good morals (or we hope so). I did not agree with his decision to go to war at first, but after realizing that the reason for war was not what was talked about on TV, but something entirely different, I supported the move. Plus, once we got over there, you can't contest it, our troops need more support from us than anyone else. The reason: To take the battle off our soil, and onto theirs... As long as we were looking for them, they weren't going to poke their heads above ground... not for long. We prevented numerous terrorist attacks... One, days before a planned attack on the Brooklyn Bridge. He has done alot for us in these last 4 years, and I think we owe him big time for keeping America safe in a time of total chaos.

You know what Dana? I think you are full of it. Personality is a huge driving force in the presidential election, and to say that it plays no part in your decision is a complete lie. If you just look at numbers or what these politicians say, you will never pick the person you really want in office. Kerry was asked by a man in (I think the 2nd Debate) to look him in the eyes and promise something... Kerry obliged and said "I will not raise taxes in anyway during my first term as president" When he said it, he constantly looked around, had broken and slow speech... he was lying. He's a flopper, can't make up his mind. That was the most convincing of all the factors... He was playing the polls the whole campaign. Our commander in chief has a huge responsibility to make decisions quickly and put them into action. Bush does this, that is another thing I like.

Obviously personality isn't everything, but I guess the fact that you didn't look at personality at all is why you voted for a boldface liar flip flop man who thought botox could win him the election.

 Newsflash.. they're politicians. Fake is their thing. If you think one is a "better person" than the other, it's because you only choose to see character attributes you want to see.

I really don't think GW is faking a thing. I don't think he's good at faking. He might say things here and there because he has to, but I don't think his personality is faked at all, and I think it shows a lot. I'm not talking about the campaign trail so much as his time in office, btw.

i was gonna try and sell my vote on ebay, but never had the guts to see if they'd let me. but i did write an ad for it in my creative writing class:

(dont take it too seriously)

Vote for Sale

Time for a quick Civics lesson:

Q: Which two ideas make Americans better than the other 6 billion people we share the planet with?

A: CAPITALISM and DEMOCRACY!

That’s right! Laissez-faire capitalism and semi-fair democracy have allowed America to become the Head Honcho of political superpowers. Many advertisements leading up to November will tell you to get out and register to vote, which is a good starting point. However, this is your opportunity to get involved with not just democracy, but capitalism as well. Let me get to the point: I want to sell you my vote! That’s right, the winning bidder will be able to tell me who to vote for! As an added bonus to Minnesota bidders, the winner will also get to tell me who to vote into congress as well! Still not convinced? Maybe you fall into one of the categories below:

Can’t decide who to vote for?

Now you can cover all your bases!

Do you feel you’re entitled to vote twice?

Here’s your chance to beat the system!

Do you just have too much money?

Let me help!

This would also make a great gift!

Remind the 70% of the world’s population who have never heard a dial tone why you are superior and make a bid on my vote today!

Yeah, selling your vote is a felony. You could face 5 years in prison, just enough time to miss the next election.

Also, I find it funny that many people will concede that Bush is a complete idiot, yet also believe all that Micheal Moore garbage about Bush making secret deals with the Saudis and his involvement in conspiracies and whatnot... It just bothers me.

I think the both of them are idiots, heh.

I voted for the canidate I thought would be less incompetent in office. Simple as that. Little to do with policies as a whole, I don't really line up with either of them exactly.

That is an often quoted example and seems true on the surface. One thing though that isn't talked about much are the "voting irregularities" in Chicago that got Kennedy elected. Most likely if Nixon wanted to ask for a investigation into the votes in Illinois he had a good chance of winning that election, but he decided not to because he thought it would be bad for the country to bring up the subject.
