Johann
hmmm It's borderline yes but pics don't do it justice. Car has a very aggressive stance now.. Today I removed the 2.3 engine. It will be taken apart and probably some goodies added to make it an NA torque wonder. It will take the remainder of the year at least which would mean the C30 can't be driven for that long.. But that isn't going to happen.. As a temporary solution a Duratec 1.8 will be installed so I can drive the car. It will be considerably down on power compared to the 2.3 but I think just enough to have fun at the Ring. All the aux parts of the 2.3 fit this engine. After the 2.3 goes back in the 1.8 can be put up for sale again. edit: almost forgot....want to see moar supercharged setups! Sorry but that isn't going to happen again.. I think.. ;)

Spanky
Today was the lucky day. At noon I signed the contract.. Delivery time isn't know yet but today I received the final word that one car was assigned to me, one of ten official Dutch imports and one of 500 made. .. No it isn't white.. No it isn't a Volvo.. But it has so much Volvo written all over it that I have decided to call it the SD500. I have always been looking at this car as being the very last of the performance Volvo 5 cylinders.. I just pm'd you about this....wondering if you had any news.... . Your one lucky dutchman!!! I am glad you got her. Hopefully there will be some JCviggen like videos once you get a chance to break her in.

In time I guess there will be some video's yes but not anything near the lap times JC is driving. High 8 minutes should be possible though. SD7 is out of the workshop again. See if it can make the first miles tonight.
Johann
Alternator needs OEM EMS's crank sensor connected to charge.. A nice puzzle but got it working again. Engine runs nice, not as torquey as the 2.3 but it revs considerable harder compared to a S40 1.8 loaner I had yesterday.

Johann
Needs a white lip Neh. The white spoils the black detail on pictures. Look good the way it is now.. After almost 5 years I took the "build" engine as used in SD2 and SD5 apart. Although the engine itself ran great it has given me a lot of issues with oil leaking. At the time the block was build up by the company who did the boring, honing and knife-edging for this engine. After balancing the crank we had a bit of a discussion about the way the crank was balanced. I wasn't happy with their way of standard "overhauled replacement engine" way of balancing so the engine was taken apart again and the crank balanced the way I wanted. Over the years almost every seal and gasket has been replaced but the engine kept leaking. Also the hoses for the crank ventilation were replaced and the crank pan, the first pan used had a weld in it and I thought worst case the weld had deformed the mounting surface of the pan. After removing the first pan nothing wrong could be found. The replacement pan was mounted anyway. After that there was the oil leaking again, always near the oil pump at the driveshaft side corner of the block. The oil squirter caps also leaked oil but this was solved after placing OEM gaskets instead of liquid gasket which was applied by the company building the engine. Also has a minor issue with the return line seal but after solving these issues the oil came back. After the engine was taken out of SD2 the engine was cleaned at the outside. Some nuts and bolts re-torqued, the turbo crush rings of the oil feed were replaced and a new VVT solenoid seal was placed. After that the engine was installed in the S60, SD5. Drove the car for a while only to discover the engine was leaking agin. About a year ago I took the engine out again and it had been shelved since. Still curious about the leaking I decided to take the engine apart at the crank split/girdle. Removing the girdle immediately showed the reason for the oil leaking. The company building the engine apparently never cleaned the mounting surfaces after taking out the crank.. Also the type of seal used was peculiar. It looked like the surfaces at the oil gallery side had never really touched and only the sealant being pushed out to the outside of the split was holding most of the oil.. Surfaces needed a lot of cleaning. Bearings looked like new after some ~15K miles of abuse. Opening up an engine makes a mess.. ;)
