Used a Canon Powershot SD110IS. Point and shoooot. The sun was super red for some odd reason.

It's not a very interesting photo to be honest, it just look like snapshot taken out of the window of a house. The power lines bisecting the trees don't draw your eye away from any rement of asethetics in the photo. The raised blacks pull all the detail out of the trees. The tree on the left has been cut off at the top as well, and the colors are really flat. Just my opinion.

The only interesting thing about it is that the sun was red at the moment. Other then that, it's not that great of a picture. I wish I had an SLR on me.

Yeah.. sucks. It's funny that dawayne's is the last place to develop it too. I had 5 rolls of film, both 120 and 35mm developed by them and they did an aweful job. I'll never use them again. The scans were horrible (8849018407NEG0011-2.jpg). Medium format I shoot with a Mamiya 645 or a Yashica D TLR. 35mm I have several to choose from, I'll probably shoot w/ my canon A-1 though. As for film, I have a whole bunch of different films that I bought off ebay and a retired photographer. I'll have to inventory what I have and post it up. Most of the medium format stuff is Fujicolor and kodak x-pan b/w though. I know I have a bunch of tmax 35mm too, at least I think I do..

I remember you mentioning a while back about how bad a job they did. Medium format must be fun. That Yashica looks interesting too. Do you notice a huge difference when you use medium format?

Just got the 11-16! Woot. Just messing around:

Edited another. Detail in the face is lacking but I like the atmosphere:

The biggest change w/ shooting 120 is composition, you have to a more narrow space to work with. You don't really notice a difference until it comes time to print. It's a totally different feel in shooting though, there is something to be said for holding a medium format camera and winding the film to the next position after each shot, it's pretty awesome. If you want to get into the MF game, definitely look at the Mamiya 645 systems, it's probably the cheapest way to get into the game, all the hassy's are retarded expensive. There are some major differences when it comes to digital medium format vs. 35mm these days though, like flash sync speed, mega pixels, etc.

Was in Riga (latvia) for 6 days to do some shoots, as luck would have it the photographer and his assistant who were supposed to do the cover shoot and a fashion shoot made the mistake of not getting a visa and were denied onto the plane. So that kind of promoted me to do those...only trouble that I did not feel I was equipped for it with only my on-camera 580 EXII and a bouncer :o

Not even a softbox. Cover shoot was 4 russian singers and a famous producer. Didn't really know any of them though  Fashion was just another russian singer.

The 5 women were a bit of a challenge to get to agree on everything, and they also had a mind of their own when it came to composition. Still, in the the magazine was very happy with the results, personally I can see room for improvement but that's the trouble with pictures, you can always think of ways how they should be better. The cover pic (not posted) looked quite good with loads of photoshop/airbrush

I don't quite like this one, but she specifically requested this (showed me an example at least this bad) frankly first time I ever tried it  too lazy to try and do anything about the flare now. Felt like a very bad idea at midday to be honest but everything survived.

The on camera flash is unfortunate, but you have to work with what you have. I would have put the flash away and shot ambient, and bounced light in using the reflector since it looks like you were able to find awesome soft available light. The shallow DOF mixed w/ the xerox like effect of the on camera flash is throwing me off a bit. It sucks the depth of the model out of the photo, that mixed w/ the DOF makes her seem almost cardboard flat. However, you did a good job. The poses are nice and comp is good. As for the last shot, if you were to recomp the shot with her head covering more of the sun, it would decrease the flare and it would work much better.

If I were you, I'd always travel with a sync cord so you can get the flash off camera. Bounce the flash into the reflector with an assitant holding it will be 1000x better than on camera. Or, invest in some pocketwizards.

Tried briefly without a flash but that worked pretty terrible all things considered, especially with the sun constantly coming and going through the clouds. A4 size printed it looks all right luckily.

P-wizards on order, I didn't take a reflector even because I wasn't going to need it

Congrats! I had an inpromptu shoot w/ a model last year and all I had was an SB80DX and my triggers, so I zoomed the flash, placed it on 1/1 and had it backed up about 25-30 feet from the subject and it worked well. Further the light source, the softer the light. You'll be happy w/ the PW's, they're awesome.

That's true, I really like my 70-200 for these things but I was with my back against a wall a few times  had to do most of it with the 50mm prime, but they wanted a "soft" look so I tried keeping it pretty wide open. (F1.4-2.0)

Hi!

I thought that shooting drift for 4days will be tough.. and I was right  But what an experience it was, best 4 days in my life... at least in this year :ph34r:

And it seems I made good pictures. The organizers called me to tell how much they liked my pictures. I was so happy <_< And some of my pics will be published in a local magazine!!

The 18-105 held up fine, awesome lens for that price.

But I can start to save money for a longer lenses and a new body. I'll be shooting at the first hungarian Le-Mans Series round at the Hungaroring and also at the Ferrari Challange. I'm so looking forward to shoot some proper race.

It will be a huge challange for me. I've never been at the Hungaroring as a photographer. Flyer

I'll make a "best of" selection of the drift pictures. The full gallery contains 800+ pictures..

Went on a road trip out west. Thought I was going to get a lot more shots, mostly my fault. Didn't plan it very well and ended up not having anywhere to stay a couple nights and just kept driving. Should have slept in the car. Here are the shots I've edited so far. Will post more later.
