--Aaron--
Sounds pretty awesome I'm a bit of a car audio nerd myself. I got hooked while upgrading my stock system, and now I do installs for my friends and that stuff...debating trying to grab a job as an installer for a local shop this summer. Looking forward to overhauling my setup a bit this summer, but gotta get back to work first. I really like JL's gear, but its kinda pricey (monkey you college) A couple guys I went to high school with had JL setups. One had a full JL setup--6.5" ZR components all around, 2 13.5" W3's in a ported box, JL Slash series amps, (combined system RMS of 1500 watts) That was stupid loud (tested @ 146 db) but still sounded damn good doing so. And one of my best friends had 2 12" W3's with a Rockford amp in a ported box in his Jeep, but he recently replaced them with a 12" Kicker Solobaric L7. I'm curious to hear how it compares. Thanks man, I like your setup as well. I have heard that JL subs perform best when mated with JL amplifiers, wonder if there's any truth behind that. Either way, I'd like to toss a system in the Volvo at some point. I want the potential to disturb a lot of piece. I've been thinking the 2 JL 12's I mentioned or 3 JL W3 10's. I like the 12's because they are very pronounced but 10's are my favorite in terms of accuracy. I had 1 JL 12W3 in my old 850 years and years ago and just one was pretty damn loud. 2 of them might be a bit of overkill but it's refreshing to bounce your ear drums around from time to time. Old setup, nothing too special just neat and clean. I really enjoy installing stereos. I think I enjoy tuning them better though, nothing's better than mirror bouncing frequencies. Yes, I keep an air freshener in my trunk. Don't know why. Here's the wife's currently, only thing I'd like to do back there is to carpet under the rear deck there to cover up the wires. I didn't get a chance to get one with the backseats folded down which is where the cap and amp are mounted. andyb5
Thanks man, I like your setup as well. Thanks. I've got a few plans for an overhaul sometime later this year I have heard that JL subs perform best when mated with JL amplifiers, wonder if there's any truth behind that. Not sure about the JL w/ JL rumor, but probably a myth JL started. The local shop in RI sells JL subs with Rockford amps to anyone they can, seen tons of those floating around. Either sub setup you're thinking about would be plenty loud to disturb everyone around. Or a W7 in a ported box. That would disturb the peace all over town. If you did a sub setup in your car, would you go ported or sealed box? I had 1 JL 12W3 in my old 850 years and years ago and just one was pretty damn loud. 2 of them might be a bit of overkill but it's refreshing to bounce your ear drums around from time to time. Agreed And my sub isn't that loud either. Looks really nice, almost factory. Just a little to badass for a stock system Agreed on covering up the wires, after that it looks pretty much perfect
--Aaron--
Nice, toss a thread up in audio when you start changing your setup. Yeah, it's probably just JL trying to tell their speakers and amps as packages if it's even true at all. Hmm, that's a good point. I wonder if one W7 would sound equivalent to 2 W3's......have you ever heard one before? I've always been a fan of sealed boxes with the appropriate cubic feet but whichever the speaker is best suited for would be my choice. I know the W3's sound really good in sealed boxes but IIRC the W7's need the ported boxes. I remember reading that somewhere, don't quote me. Thanks! I will def. get around to laying carpet under the rear deck there eventually. It's hard to justify doing because unless you get on your knees and look into the trunk you don't see any wires.

Fudge_Brownie
I'm not going to claim MA has good drivers, but RI is surely worst. And RI known for 'drug use'? I don't think that's accurate. I think it's more specifically one type of drug, and I don't think it is a top state for hard drug use. No way is Maine dumber than Mississippi.
