NTSB recommends full ban on mobile phone usage while driving. Including with hands free units. I fail to understand why there is any distinction between a headset and a unit installed in the car.

Personally, I think it's something they should do in every State. I can't count the number of times I've almost been sideswiped by an idiot on their mobile. And I too have done a couple of really stupid things while driving and talking on my headset. Time to quit.

Driving with cell phone laws are weird. You can't hold a phone legally, but you can hold a 7-11 Big Gulp in one hand and foot long sub in the other and drive with your knees? And if you feel like going for the hat trick throw smoking in to the mix.

Not in South Euclid OH...(suburb of Cleveland) eating in car is illegal! and they will stop you for it..

At least she's wearing a seat belt. Can't be too careful.

Agree! It happened to me twice just this morning! Woman in a Range Rover on a cell phone cut in front of me to merge on to the Beltway. Then as we merge and accelerate to hi-way speed, she slams on her brakes in the middle of the 495 to cut over the the far left lane exit. Nearly rear ended her! And almost dropped my Red Bull!

Here in Va it's not law yet, though it is in DC and MD! Va cops bitched it would be too hard to enforce! WTF! :arob:

 they are starting this up in FL now. bout dam time.

You cannot talk, text, or email while driving. but you may while at a stop sign or stop light, also a cop cannot pull you over just for that. you have to have another traffic violation.

Same with not wearing your seat belt.

Well see how long it takes to get this passed considering the majority of cops who text while driving. We actually have motor bike cops who get caught texting while driving all the time down here.

This is just more gun-law type pile the laws on to make us safer. Nearly unenforceable, will most likely only stop those who can successfully and reasonably multitask etc. Pretty sure when the banned texting in some state claimed accidents were higher as a result of people trying to text out of site. No way you can believe a study like that with great confidence, but still interesting point.

We already have negligent driving laws We need the police to enforce them instead of strictly focusing on speeding tickets.

It's not a primary offense though or w/e you call it. If a cop sees you talking on your phone but not doing anything else illegal you CANT be ticketed/pulled over. Its stupid. You have to be speeding, have tinted windows, or some other primary infraction to warrant a stop and then you can get a ticket for the cell phone.
