BurgerBob
Is there any particular reason you didn't use speaker cable to build the harness? Also, one wire color would've looked much nicer. 1

boxpin
Did some more work on the VEMS ECU wiring - almost there! FINN McMISSILE ...dont tell me nobody caught that.

B Mac
Why use speaker wire when I have color coded Volvo wiring (that I don't have to buy?)..... It was a reference to Jim, "faulty warrior", as he used blue speaker wire for his entire mega squirt abortion.Looks really good man, looking forward to seeing this installed.

Sorry but you said "megasquirt abortion" - two words I never expected to see together in this context...thanks for the laugh.
fischmama
Finished the ECU wiring & epoxied the harness and board connections Connector in place - data connector (with blue/green/black wires) will mount in the top. Shrink wrapped bundles are extra wires, in case I need to add/modify circuits. Cover fits snugly - just have to cut a slot for the data connector on the top Did you test it? I would not have epoxied the cables yet.
lookforjoe
Did you test it? I would not have epoxied the cables yet. No - only to the extent of continuity testing the wires, not function tested yet. Already decided that if it doesn't work I'm just going get a pre- assembled unit, this took waaaayyy too long!!! lookforjoe
Did a 3rd pull, trying to smooth out the lean(er) AFR's over 7K quite a spike in the log... Timing is good - you can see from the map, actual values are close to mapped - so, not sure why the AFR's are so lean. I've raised the WOT sliders a couple more points, to see if it changes. Boost control is also a tad uneven, have to look at some of the Apexi settings to smooth that out.
lookforjoe
Did 4th gear pulls on Friday, but the duty cycle wasn't set, so it overboosted in the first pull.... dropped timing to single digits as a result
BlackT5
Over boosted? What size waste gate do you have again?

lookforjoe
Over boosted? What size waste gate do you have again? Overboosted, or spiked, if you will - because the duty cycle was not set in the Apexi ACV-R. I had just put in a percentage for the duty cycle that I expected to deliver about 18psi, but until you go WOT & hold it there, the head unit doesn't adjust. In the second pull, it has it pretty much set, although there is a small spike as I enter WOT.
lookforjoe
Found a cracked hose to my wastegate top port, I've been experiencing erratic boost control. Also the other one of the WG hard (plastic) lines I ran behind the firewall insulation had collapsed from the heat, hard to replace it with a metal line. Finally got the boost control stabilized so I could get the Apexi duty cycles set, and did a couple of hard pulls around 21psi - went like a bat out of hell, then severe breakup. Pulled over, couldn't find any leaks, popped hoses, etc. Drove carefully the 5 miles home keeping the load as light as possible on the motor. NO CEL's were set, but it did feel like misfire, so I pulled the spark plug cover & checked the coil packs (also had checked the fuel pressure, since it seemed like it was running very lean according to the wideband), sure enough another of the IPD HD coil packs had failed. I have to say, they have been the biggest waste of money I have spent on the wagon. Every one of them has cracked epoxy coatings, and two seemed to have failed, only to come back once cooled off. Replaced them today with new Bosch units. I also checked the plugs, which are all even, and closed them up a touch, to .028". Did a compression test while I had them out - warm engine, throttle wedged wide open: #1 180 #2 180 #3 174 #4 175 #5
CBoosT5
Looks like its time to find real "HD" coilpacks. I know a popular one in the dsm world is out of a 300m and sebring? I have seen some high numbers put down on them, and no bs cracking and working only when cool.
