Yup ^. Blew that line messing around on the highway once as well. Replaced both of the core lines with genuine pieces when I got back to my garage and haven't had issues yet. I'm going to put a braided nylon sleeve over them to help with some heat and/or rubbing as a preventative measure.

As far as IAT's rising, I'm referring to the increase from part load temp to whatever it ends up at at the end of the pull(s). My cruising temps are usually a few degrees over ambient, part load IAT's are usually 5-10º over ambient. I think I need to data log hotside temps, so I can see what kind of temp I actually have coming out the turbo, that way I can get a better sense of the IC efficiency.

I doubt you will be disappointed with a better intercooler. Go for it!! For grins I logged a few pulls yesterday, and averaged about 5° above AMBIENT at the end of the pulls. For comparison I was seeing increases of 25-30° above ambient with my previous intercooler. I'd be curious also to know the temps on the hotside coming out of my turbo. I don't know how it would compare to yours, but probably safe to say my "little" K24 running at 22psi is pushing some hot air :lol:

Yeah, I'm thinking I have to do it. I'll start logging the turbo outlet temps over the weekend - I had a bung welded to the hotside outlet pipe, and modded another Volvo IAT probe (9445153) to fit

Ordered a TR-1235 over the weekend.

I had some issues with my wiring for the IAT data logging.

This is how the sensors need to be wired.

I piggy-backed off the 5V supply to the existing TB IAT, and ran a new wire for the IAT signal back to the LMA-3.

the problem is, the LMA-3 5V output circuit cannot handle two sensors, so my logging values were all askew.

I made a regulated 5V supply (radioshack 7805, #276-1770) today, with load resistor (2.3K) to supply the new IAT. Just have to run a new feed wire out to the connector I already added.

Also bought a used Greddy Profec Type S controller in case the reman Apexi head unit dies again.

Rewired the IAT compressor side sensor. Now I'm not sure it is a good location, as the charge air temps hit 200f. I'll add the graph later. What it did make clear is that I need to heat wrap my "J" pipe, as it clearly hear soaks from the exhaust & transmission. At idle, with 79 degrees at the TB, I had over 110 at the compressor outlet. I checked the J pipe with a laser temp reader, and it registered over 100f. The external temp likely is higher than the air moving through , but still.

I think I need to move the hotside probe further downstream for meaningful logging data. I have one in the pipe just before the IC inlet, but its one of the exterior temp probes, which do not respond at the higher rate seen with exposed element sensors.

I thought you were going for the Profec B spec 2, but that unit still works great (Fiore has it). I'm not sure if they sell a remote switch for hi/low boost configurations for this unit but it's worth checking out. That's only an issue until you get VEMS up and running though.

Honestly, I didn't realize the Type S was an older model - I just looked on the Greddy website. I do prefer the face of the Type S, though. Either way, I just want to have it handy in case the Apexi fails.

I don't think you should measure these things at idle. When you start making boost the temperature of the air coming out of the compressor skyrockets because of, well, compression :D And that's the time when you want the air temp to be as low as possible, at idle it really doesn't matter.

If at load the compressor exit temp is higher than your engine bay temp (and J pipe) then wrapping it would be counter productive. Although definitive data can only be acquired on the road doing pulls, generally speaking the rule of thumb is NOT to insulate hotside piping. You'd need to have a particularly hot engine bay for that to make sense. A bit of reflective shielding at the underside of the J pipe might do something.

You're right, it doesn't make sense to obsess about the temps at idle. I did wrap the hotside elbow off the compressor, because of the heat coming off the header. I'll try some shielding on just the underside of the J pipe, just to see. My main point is just that for logging purposes, measuring at the hotside outlet my not be useful since the compressed air temp will tend to be at the limit of the probe's operating window, it seems. I'll log a couple of pulls today & see what I get.

Did another today, after adding the additional LMA-3 that has a functional MAP, for monitoring EBP. I can't believe the EGT's so maybe the logging gauge is not properly calibrated.

It's much less complex than the Apexi, but if it can set & hold consistent boost levels without too much fuss, that's the main thing.

The seller of the Type B I found still hasn't replied, I guess I'll have to let that one go.

The IC didn't arrive, however :( . I was hoping to get it installed today. I'll have to do some work on the (data logging) IAT probes instead. I have to make a 5v supply with thermistor for each one, that takes a little time, and route some additional wiring. I was thinking of repurposing the external temp sensors I used to connect to the info center display, but the reaction time of those is not great. I can use the bungs, at least.

Not sure what the AFR spike @ 7 sec is about. EBR is good. Hit 94% inj. duty cycle (!). 30ºF approach will hopefully go away once I get the Treadstone IC.

Timing seems good, values increase over 6200, it's pulling values from lower than the 100% load cells. I wonder whether I should be concerned about the AFR's, at those rpm's, I don't seem to be able to drop them, even with significant increases to the WOT settings.

After this, I swapped out the IATcomp sensor for a modified ECT probe, the operating temp range seems more appropriate. I shaved the tip to expose the NTC, for more rapid response. Just have to reprogram the logworks gauge channel.
