Excess is a cultural point for us but causes more deaths from BigMacs than firearms.

Never was happy with the 9mm. Too many compropmises imho.

"CLIPS" ... I get so frustrated when I see this word on CNN. Ban all the "clips" you like, lol.

Mental health screenings would be a tool used to disqualify whomever they like. I'd argue that most vets, those who carried weapons in the service of this country, wouldn't pass the screening they would propose.

A nice little tidbit here you CERTAINLY wont see on CNN - 2 days after Sandy Hook - http://www.naturalnews.com/038584_media_blackout_armed_citizens_saving_lives.html

87 gun related deaths a day.

you guys have to admit thats crazy.

lets get them off the streets.

i'm kind of amazed nobody here has a gun related tragedy here.

** i don't believe this has affected my frame of reference because i'm not against hunting but.

when i was a kid my father was a hunter. His best buddy and his brother were out hunting. I've never asked the question, but the brother was shot and killed while hunting. can you imagine carrying your dead brother 5 miles out of the woods on your shoulder?.?.

I'd bet that <1% of firearm deaths are from a registered/legal firearm.

Also, >821 deaths per day directly related to obesity. Put down that BigMac and pick up a gun. You'll be safer in several ways.

That's the second leading cause of death by the way. The first is tobacco use.

Let's not forget that the leading weapon for US deaths is still the club/baseball-bat

By the way, >50% of those gun related deaths are suicides.

Someone probably does. But why does that really matter? So they can get all emotional and back you up cause that one time at band camp Jimmy played with the camp directors shotgun and blew his face off?

You keep pumping out stories as if you're trying to pull our emotional strings so we'll cry out "stop the madness! the children, the children!" But that's now how reasonable decision making works. So go find some actual data, not one-off dead people stories, and make a reasonable and well defended case.

Maybe his brother slept with his gf? Aren't hunting accidents SOP?

That many guns makes it to easy for a family to be destroyed. I'm sure all those with family members committing suicide are sorry they had guns handy
Maybe, but they shouldn't be. Poison's cheap and easy, and so is 10ft of rope.

Exactly

That's right. People who want to kill people change their minds when they don't have a gun handy. Same with suicides ... Are you hearing (reading) yourself?

Fudge - Even if he finds reasonable data their wont be context. The death rate figure he quoted looks like nothing compared to virtually everything else. That's the only way liberals can "debate" topics. Which is to say that they debate improperly.

Edit: Sorry, that came off a little more dickish to Flyfishing then I intended.

I'm not. Most of us dont live within that part of society where violence and illegal activity is a way of life. Those of us that own guns aren't just waving them around and randomly shooting at people either. I understand you dont like guns but it sounds as if you are blurring the line between responsible gun use/ownership and criminal firearm use.

One could go anywhere right now with a bat/knife/pipe and wipe out plenty of people. If somebody is going to kill people the tool they use isn't the issue, the person doing the killing is.
