corivus
So nothing really big to update aside from driving it and enjoying the ever living crap out of it right now, I did the horn repair kit and now have a working horn after 4 years of ownership. Once I put it in I realized it was too tight and when I took my g/f's sister out we had a fun time figuring this out when going over any speedbumps. I also repaired my tailgate trim which had come off completely, it was repaired once but wasn't a really good job. This time around I put some shims in and epoxied everything in and now it sits pretty comfy. I also installed my MSD Blaster coil again, I figure since I have it why not install it. I have a few things that are piling up around the house for either repairs or upgrades which I'm hoping to get installed soon, maybe this Wed-Fri if possible since those are my days off. I had a few people suggest rebuilding my Billie's into coilover's but from what I have read it can get bouncy, this is my DD so not sure I want that at all. For the time being I'm going to look into lowering springs. I've read around and IIRC I was told by Cameron that the IPD springs are a bit more aggressive and offer a 1/2" drop over the Eibach's. But I haven't seen if anyone has used H&R springs and can attest to how the ride feels with those? Since my first photo the suspension has settled a little bit more, but not by much, which means if someone has lowering springs for the P80 platform pm me I may be interested if its a good price!! Yeah so this is what it looks like now :| Yes thats snow in the greater phoenix area!! Also photoshop chop someone did, I actually think I'd like to be 1/2" higher in the front and maybe 3/4" - 1" higher in the rear for reference current photchopped Edited March 6, 2013 by corivus
corivus
For those of you who have rolled fenders and have the turn signal add on's instead of the volvo emblems in your fenders, how did you secure the wiring harness so it doesn't get caught? I was thinking double sided tape but that feels a bit to sketchy...

I was thinking double sided tape but that feels a bit to sketchy... I have no fender liners. Zip tied it to the wires that already run along the top of the inside of the fender. corivus
have you have any issues with not running fender liners?

okoye
needs less meat and more stretch. nothing wrong with no fender liners. a bunch of people on here do it!
JVC
needs less meat and more stretch. nothing wrong with no fender liners. a bunch of people on here do it! Clearly you've never driven a car without them... Lots wrong. Door jambs get dirty, any rock on the ground is heard bouncing around the wheel well and the engine bay gets dirty... You wouldn't event know what it's like.
corivus
lol my engine bay is always dirty! but the bouncing rocks would bug me :| and JVC I am going to assume your running coilovers yes? do you know what the ride quality is between D2's and KW's? JVC
lol my engine bay is always dirty! but the bouncing rocks would bug me :| and JVC I am going to assume your running coilovers yes? do you know what the ride quality is between D2's and KW's? I've ridden in a few cars with KW... they handle a bit better, but I can't really attest to ride since I've spent the most time in my car with the D2's. My car is almost as low as possible on the D2's in front with no modification, the rear of my car has shorter springs, which in turn, still allow me enough thread to crank them down until the fender sits on the outside of the tire. It's really just annoying because when theres salt on the road, you head every bit of it bouncing around the inside of the fender, my plan is to install the back half of the fender liner, it will still allow me to clear the tires, but block stuff from being thrown into the inside of the fender and making noise. The only other issue is without fender liners, all dirt and stuff get thrown backwards and it ends up dirtying up the front of the front door jambs. For a while I couldnt figure out how dirt was getting in there until I realized that it was because of the lack of fender liners.
kalvin
So glad we don't have salt here. I only removed the top rounded half of my liner and things stay mostly clean.
corivus
well good to know I may just remove the rounded portion today, and thanks for the info JVC thats been the main thing I've been wondering about I have the Touring Shocks and it feels like I'm bouncing hard off every bump on them. corivus
small update really, plastidipped my front grill about 3 months ago and here's a shot from daily driving 7 days a week for both work and rescue related things as well as some time for fun I also added in these, along with the matching seats to go in once I have time! That's really it, I've been boring otherwise!
corivus
Just an update, nothing mechanical this time. However, I scored most of an R interior yesterday and spent about an hour and a half getting the old removed and the new installed! Here's a few pictures: Getting married in April so any kind of real spending aside from any maintenance on this has been put on a halt for the last year.
