matt1122
Okay, we were talking about this at a meet a few months ago. Can anyone clear up what an R Kelly mod is? Is this referring to ye ole Bay 13?
survolvo
My understanding of the R Kelly mod is the air ducting that goes into the lower fog light grill. http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread.php?83377http://www.ipdusa.com/products/5679/2c9552-r-model-intake-kit

matt1122
I'm trying to understand where the name comes from. Thanks for answering that question!
survolvo
The SN of the person who designed it was R Kelly
matt1122
Ya and it doesn't look like that's who I thought it might be. Just a coincidence I think. Thank you.
Johann
Ya and it doesn't look like that's who I thought it might be. Just a coincidence I think. Thank you. My remark was more or less meant as a joke but at the time I was driving an R and also moderator of SS's R forum. I know Kelly personally from R meetings in Germany. Even drove the Nürburgring with him. The R's heat soak issues were discussed a lot back then, 2003 and 2004 2005. Kelly was the person who took the initiative to build these cold air intakes hence the name. Although he receives the credits for the initiative the cold air duct name thing has become a bit of a joke over the years.
matt b
Wasn't it even proven to be essentially worthless ? I ran one on my wagon for a few months, it made absolutely no difference in the way the car ran. The secondary intercooler set up is probably a bigger issue. It is very obvious that the intercooler setup of the R is a joke. Imo the only simple solution is a nice FMIC. Added to that, installing an RKelly CAI is a lot of work,

Johann
Car apparently has lived near the sea all it's live. There was a lot of rust on the front inner frame, Cleaned it up as good as it went and put a fresh coat of primer on. Black goes on tomorrow, also the small IC will receive some new black. No FMIC plans for now. Didn't feel like spending near 500 Euro's on a new frame btw.
Johann
Back together, Left the grill out because I wrecked a horn. New one on order. Makes install a bit easier.
