Why is it now that we have a problem with them... controlling or confiscating them won't take the fear, violence or hate away. Is there any data for that, on a per capita comparison? Unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised if there was an issue with getting data nationally that far back, because it probably wasn't recorded. But It'd be interesting to see per capita nation-wide gun violence back to the 50's. I'm sure it goes up and down as the latest population boom hits the 18-29 bracket, but otherwise, I'm not sure it'll be a constant upward trendline. The big data point I'm seeing is that it's down since 1993. But that's the best I could find in a 3 minute search. Anyone got better? The data I usually see compares the US against other countries, which I think is kind of frustrating, since it usually goes on count alone, not per capita, and doesn't contrast it against other crimes (e.g. knife instead of gun). That works until the hippy with an electric car want gasoline to be 10K a gallon... and vegetarians want meat to be 10K a pound... etc.You cannot control guns or their parts. Look at 3D printing. Even if you confiscated weapons, which I think we could all agree is the most extreme attempt at control... people will just print or make their own.Trying to price fix people out of something also doesn't address that EVERYONE has the ability, and cheap tools to press their own ammunition. You should visit Texas and see some of the arsenals that I've seen. You will see it's not the weapon that does the killing... the the meat sack operating it that does.It's ironic that you want to take things away from others... but do not think about others taking things away from you in the same fashion. What happened to those poor people on national TV was an atrocity. I'm pro freedom to do what the fuck you want unless you hurt someone else on pretty much everything... but this guy was a fucking loon, and it looks like there were many people who noticed. The majority of guns are not registered. So a confiscation or buyback would be "interesting". Also pretty sure most "criminals/gang-bangers" wouldn't take part in it. If civilians are unarmed will cops still be carrying firearms? If the guns are gone were safe so they are no longer needed right? But honestly at the end of the day with bribery, lobbyist, and some sort of election always around the corner whats really going to happen... nothing. Her approach is exactly the kind of approach that would deny fame because she never once mentions his name, nor shows his picture nor really discusses anything about him. After not finding it, I realized it's because they name the events after the victims.
