We are still blown away the ITW would do this. good for me........ If we can't make high margins in a business (25%+ OI) and the growth rates don't look good then we get out of it. And we know how to wring every possible penny out of a dollar.
Brad850
Is a single cylinder misfire at idle (cyl 4 for example) pretty much always a fuel injector issue? Sometimes when I first start the car it chugs for about 10 seconds and then idles and drives perfectly normal for the duration of the trip. Finally threw a code for cyl 4 misfire the other day just from idling. Cleared it and it hasn't come back. Happened before and after brand new oem plugs. 99 s70 na.. As well as boot. Like Andy said.. as I didn't realize it was a 99 when I first responded. andyb5
Swap the coilpack from the cylinder with a misfire and a good cook pack and see if the misfire moves with it. That's the easiest way to troubleshoot a coilpack. Oh, and look for cracking along the stem of the coilpack - that indicates the cool has gotten very hot and is failing or will fail very soon.
Brad850
Thanks guys. I guess if I confirm it's not the coil packs I can use this method with the injectors as well. If one coil pack goes is it usually a good idea to replace all 5? They're pretty expensive.
andyb5
Ideally yes, even though that's $250+ at once, you should be set for years.
