matt b
It's a 2015 Salsa Spearfish 2. Aluminum, full suspension 29'er. Solid bike, it can take a lot of abuse. Up until this past June, I had sworn off MTB's but this bike and the landscape here have changed my mind. Semi on topic: raced a training crit in town last night. 4 corner crits in the dark are scary but fun.
Timbo Slice
Saw that on Facebook and it looked awesome. With regard to the MTB, did you end up getting a more aggressive tire setup to avoid cactus puncture? I still have whatever I put on my Specialized hybrid when I was out in Phoenix, though they serve no purpose here in NY/NJ.
matt b
Yes, I went through the original tires in a matter of days. Even if you make every effort to stay on the trails, you get sidewall cuts from rocks or punctures from needles. I am running some Specialized tires now. They're heavier tires but it doesn't matter, I'm not concerned about weight with this bike.

Timbo Slice
Mountain biking in Sedona is something everyone who calls themselves a mountain biker should do. I need to get back out there again and ride, that was the best time I've ever had on two wheels.
matt b
Haven't gone yet, no. Barely scratching the surface in Tucson, Phoenix/Sedona/Flagstaff will be for later this year.
Dick Dastardly
Got a couple packages.. mock-up build.. I'll finish it when the rest arrives. (Chromag 50mm stem, RaceFace Atlas Kash bars and a Chromag seat) I still love 26".. wagon wheels are for old guys..
Fudge_Brownie
That stem and seat height though.... Looks like a great set up. Call me crazy, but the 27.5 bikes I've ridden didn't feel that different. I guess I'd have to ride bikes with closer geometries back-to-back to make a better comparison. But so many seem in a hurry to size up the wheel when I think they'd be better off looking at their suspension.
Dick Dastardly
You and your stem seat relationship.. It's like 2".. I don't get how you can climb chopper style.. Also remember I'm 6'2 and ride smaller frames. Always have. Oh my wagon wheel comment is more towards 29 guys. Invented by Gary Fisher for no real reason other than to sell more bikes.

That's exactly what it looks like - a frame a size too small for it's rider :D I know someone else who prefers smaller frames too. More nimble. I ride fairly high myself if it's a long pedal sections. But otherwise, lock the rear, out of the seat, or shift way forward on it, weight over the front. I'm just jokin though, I know you've got far more experience when it comes to bikes. You can always spot the roadie-turned-mtb'er by their seat/stem heights, and how they sell bikes "pedals not included". I knew you meant 29, I was talking more about your 26 love. Like a year ago, I thought we were gonna see all 3 wheel sizes running side by side (more evenly than now). Then the new models were announced, and it was clear the industry decided to dump

The Low end will be 26" for a while and tire company's will still support it for a bit. I'd rather have 26" with a bigger tire myself (plus I love being able to buy high-end frames forks and wheels for pennies on the dollar all because of 1.5"). I can't get into a 25" top tube with 29" wheels. It's so fucking big. Perfect for roadies who want to ride on medium trails. Just so much less maneuverable. BurgerBob
So this is the last turn of Rouge Roubaix...
iPd Cameron
Still really happy with my All-City Mr. Pink. Everything is pretty dialed now. Waiting to find the right deal to come up on a 40cm set of ENVE compact bars to replace the Salsa bars. Then really the only other thing I'll change is the pedals. Keeping platforms and thinking I'm going to bite the bullet and buy some White Industries pedals to replace the MKS track pedals on there now. BurgerBob
Enve is great, but I'm running some Thomson carbon bars and I love them. Very very happy with my decision to buy them.
