TennisT5
(1998 S70 T5 Auto trans 170k)I was at a Auto cross this past weekend. I ran 1 of my 4 runs the car seemed fine, as i was heading up to the start line for my 2nd run and the trans was slipping bad! car would rev up in gear and not go anywhere. Shut the car off for a bit started it back up put it back in gear and then it went, but half way through the run it started doing it again it would slip then grab slip and grab.... So after that the only time the car would move is after that was if i shut the car off and turned it back on put it gear and it would go for about 2min then start slipping and not drivable...... So whats your thoughts, Trans??? maybe something else??? I'm just not sure....

addicted242boost
did the warning light come on? ...at any rate have the codes read, and find out what a reman tranny will cost you Same thing happened in my 850. The bearings went out and it cost 2k to rebuild the tranny. Hopefully your problem is less serious. It happened from the tranny getting too hot. Patrickw
what do you have against a trans flush? i read your other posts but i still think it would do it good to get new trans fluid. also a place around here puts somethin else in there since trans fluid isnt really like oil in that it dosent really help the gears. but the stuff my mechanic puts in is just a small amount added to the regular fluid and it helps the gears not to wear as much plus other benifits of oil to help it shift better. this is what i got out of what my mechanic told me when they flushed the trans on my moms car it its still running. as far as im concerned ill be getting mine done soon. If it dies then i have to agree with ya, just wonderin cause i dont want my tranny to die.

Yes I have seen this happen first hand but basically its rare I have seen it happen (like twice in 4 years, and we service a lot of transmissions). If we have a car come in and it has 100k+ miles and the owner doesnt know if the tranny has ever been serviced we will not flush it but we will drain and fill (replace filter if needed/equiped)
