bullittandy
Just got my Koni FSD's installed on the front on my 01 V70. I replaced the spring mounts and strut plates along with the sway bar end links. After a test drive it feels great!! Handles substanitally better than before but has about the same ride. The stock struts were toast and bottomed on everything. The install of these struts was a b*tch, especially compared to my 97 Q45. On my Q45 the old struts had a giant nut on top and when this was unscrewed the entire strut came out. BUT on the V70 the strut is held in by the strut housing being bent over the top of the strut. This required the grinder's appearance before the new strut insert could be installed. Of course, I also discovered a A-arm bushing that was shot so that's the next project. I'll be doing the rear tomorrow and will update.

I'll be doing the rear tomorrow and will update.I've completed the fronts and the rears and have driven about 800 miles and the results are FANTASTIC!!!! This car always had an excellent freeway ride but was terriblly soft in corners and bottomed on everything (the suspension was worn though). The highway ride is nearly the same not pillowy but not even close to being bothesome (my other car is a 97 Q45 used as comparison). However, the main difference is the reduction in body roll. I never knew how uncomfortable it was when a car has alot of body roll. With these struts normal sweeping corners are taken nearly flat. I also replaced my tires (after driving with new struts and old tires for a week) with Kumhos from Tirerack for $50 apiece and the that also helped alot. Got the struts from Tirerack and it seemed like the struts were only about $50 more than stockers. Highly recommend them.

bullittandy
thanks for the review....what springs you running again?Yeah, stock springs with new-struts (obviously)-endlinks-strut plates-spring seats-new tiresKind of related, I also added a bunch of sound deadener to the body, doors , plastic interior pieces. I also added soft foam weatherstripping to every place that two plastic interior panels meet. It was depressing how loose and noisy this car was after 100K and I read that the 01 was substaialy stiffer than previous V70!
Aequitas_Veritas
yeah I have been sounddeading and using the soft side of velcro on just about every part of my car. Now there is not a single squeak in the entire thing. Now I just got to replace my 150k suspension and im sure my ride will get ALOT better. Evan70
I was just looking at these on Tirerack. The rear shocks are toast on our T5, and the wife and I both would like something to improve the handling while not killing the ride. Is $560 for all four from Tirerack the best price? fromtheshadows
re you all running stock springs. I have vogtlands so I'm not sure about the difference between them and Eibachs. Anybody know the different spring rates? Butt measurements accepted (and no I dont want to know the size of your butt).
