potroast
do you have an auto tranny? If so then use a hole-saw and cut through where the clutch would go through the firewall.I have done it on several 850's. here's a pic of a 4awg:
PyROZen
before you start cutting holes, look for a black hose type thing under you steering wheel and dash. It will have a cap on then end of it with 4 little black nubs sticking off. pull the black cap off and it's and empty tube you can run wires through without cutting holes. I found it in my car and it fits a 4ga wire perfectly. If you cant find it insde the car, look under the hood on the top right side be the driver side strut tower. sorry if this post made no sense :P
turbobrick
oh jesus no.. thats not necessary at all..there's a firewall passthrough on the drivers side, its a little rubber nipple thingy, theirs like 4 nipples attached to one big rubber line, u just cut a nipple, feed the line through the firewall and then on the other side unerneath the drivers side you cut the coinciding nipple and feed it through.volvospeed has a write up.. ummm link is HEREthis writeup is for a boostgauge but it shows you where the firewall passthru is. nagrod18
it's definitely a lot easier than cutting a hole in your firewall. take the panel below the steering wheel off (the one, right above your knees when you drive). the interier nipple is behind a bundle of wires under the drivers side dash. I would take that nipple off, because when I ran my amp wire through there, it got stuck about 2 inches from the end and I tried and retried, putting it through, finally I just reached in with some plyers and pulled it out. there used to be an awesome tutorial on project850.com, I don't know why the site doesn't work anymore. otherwise I'd send you to that. I'm not sure who ran that site or whatever, but if they're reading, please put it back up, it was so helpful.
Guest tboyko
there's also one of the rubber nipple passthroughs on the passenger side of the car. that's where i did mine. no cables were going through it before I put the power cable through. very easy to do. it was a little tight trying to get my hand down there to pull it out and cut it, but for as difficult as it could have been, it wasn't too bad. steve s
look under the master brake fluid chamber...wait, u have 96? hmm..i think it's just big open space there...at least, the chamber is there but the abs control module isn't. anyway...look in the area right before the windshield around where the steering column would be. there should be a rubber grommet there.it should look something like this.it's 8-gauge...but i've since changed it to 4-gauge...u just gotta make the hole in the rubber grommet larger
