fromtheshadows
Ok to cut to the chase im not talking about recirculation valves. Im talking about blow-off valves that vent into the atmosphere. I bought my 850 with a tubo xs bov already installed . on a side note I took mine off and I'm selling it its apparently 400 miles old...80 bucks..any takers? Thinking about this earlier I have noticed many people on here thinking about installing one or that have one. If the 850 uses a MAF sensor, the BOV will be venting air that has already been counted as going into the engine by the MAF adding the fuel for air thats gone, causing it to run rich in between shifts. Is this right or is there something I'm not taking into consideration? Has anyone notices this after the BOV install? This thought process is the reason I took it off, that and i didnt want to cut my new hoses if i didnt have to so if someone can tell me that it's ok to use a BOV with reason behind it I might put it back on, i kinda miss scaring people I pull up next to. lax01
you're exactly right...Odell can attest this, he posted maybe a week ago about shooting fire after installing the BOV....I personally think they are stupid and you're doing the right thing by taking it off
Melted
Isn't this the same thing DSM guys go through? What's their way around it?

turbor850
causing it to run rich in between shifts←unless you have a manual, or didn't block off the CBV, then I can't see when your going to run richmine goes off when I let off the gas very very fast, and not when i let off slow . . . bitjockey
run open downpipe←This will accomplish nothing. You need to recirculate the air back into the intake stream, with a hose or something of the like. What model BOV is it? I'll gladly buy it for $80.Email me robin@loudbluevolvo.com and we'll talk more.
lax01
well it won't destroy your 0^2 sensors and CAT ;)
bitjockey
What are you talking about?A BOV has no effect on your exhaust system at all.?

fromtheshadows
shooting fire? out of the exhaust? wow after searching what the dsm guys do i realize it was dumb to think volvo would be exempt from BOV woes just cause everyone in here wants one. 95 GSXracer (about a BOV that vents into atm)Bad combination with the stock airflow sensor, doesnt matter which turbo. With a MAFt in blow through you can properly run a BOV to atmosphere. I had to make this swap to run vented BOVs like Tial and SARD.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------also Greddy and HKS make recirc. valves for the DSM's that are apparently still loud. Since im pushing 17psi should I upgrade to an aftermaket recirculating valve? Is there one anyone would reccomend?
lax01
well, if you are running a BOV, and you are venting metered air to the atmosphere, then your car will run rich and thus destroy your 0^2 sensors (if its bad enough)...
fromtheshadows
ahh ok i guess you could do that too (run a hose). is it still loud?
