S70 V70 Speaker Sizes.

Quick story. I just replaced my door panels (thanks Brett) due to the "bubbly leather" problem, and I was thinking what a great chance to check out exactly what model of speakers the guy who owned the car before me had in them. He assured me that they were kickass. Well... got the panels off, and guess what? Stock Volvo crummyness. Needless to say I was mildly pissed cause he lied to me, but what are ya gonna do.

So, I've searched the search function countless times, and can't find a GOOD reference to what the exact sizes are in the S70, and the V70 for that matter. I know that crutchfields sizing program sucks jerk, so I need some better info. I also know that some speakers won't fit just because they're deeper than others. There are the two speakers in the dash, two in the front door, two in the rear, and two on the rear deck. Help! Thanks Guys.

After searching on Sounddomain.com for a while they list the speakers as the following:

Front Door: 7"

Rear Door: 5 1/4"

Rear Deck: 6x9"

7" ? Does that sound weird to anyone else? I've gotta guess that they mean

6 1/2". I'm also going to guess the tweeter is 3/4" or 1", is there a crossover somewhere in the dash or something? Why does sounddomain and crutchfield not list the tweeter?

I really dont think it is 7" that is hudge, mine are 5.5" and they fit in stock location (850 though) and for not posting the tweeters it probably is because they dont know what fits, I had my local stero shop look over my speaker to see what i could fit, you may want to do this too, it is easier and that way you know when you are ordering what you want and what exactly will fit.

I HAVE 98 S 70 T5 ALL THIS TALK ABOUT 7" speakers in the front doors is true

BUT.

IF YOU WANT TO REPLACE THEM .

GET 6.5 IN SPEAKERS

IF YOU CAN TAKE OFF THE DOOR PANEL AND HAVE A JIG SAW YOU CAN INSTALL A GREAT SET OF SPEAKERS

HOW DO POST PICS ON THIS SIGHT.

ALL YOU NEED A PC. OF PLYWOOD SAW AND A HOT GLUEGUN.

850 are 5-1/2" front and rear..with weird trapezoidal mounting points.

s/v70 are 7" front 5-1/2" rear.

if u have volvo's dynaudio speakers, then they are very very good. i would probably keep those in there. if not...then u could replace with 6-1/2" speakers as noted above..there should be brackets available to fit 6-1/2" speakers in ur 7" opening.

tweeter may already be in the speaker. if u have coaxial 2-way or 3-way speakers, then there should be a little tweeter in the middle of the main midbass/bass woofer cone.
