msterkel
Hello,I found out yesterday that my rear brake pads have excessive wear and it's going to cost around $450 to get new ones. Does this price seem high to anyone or is this pretty normal? The front ones are fine, so it's just the rear, that's why I find it surprising.I'd love some feedback!Meg

msterkel
I have a 2004 Cross Country xc70 awd..I don't know if that changes anything? maybe.. I went to a volvo specialist, well, import specialist called Eurosport. Many places in my town don't work on Volvos.and I live in Norman, Oklahoma. It's near the Oklahoma City area. VTT5
Depending on what you use (stock or aftermarket), it should be about $200 in parts; the rest is labor. How brave are you? With the exception of removing the rear rotors from over the park brake (a BFH comes in really handy), this isn't that bad of a job. I just did all four corners, having never done brakes before. Keaton85
It mattersAnyway, with Brembo rotors and textar pads it would cost $170 for parts (thats just me throwing something together). Then its about an hour and a half job. So given that, i would say a brake job on the rear at a worthwhile shop is going to be around $300-$400. But thats just me screwing around with numbers here. You could order the parts and then have pretty much anyone install them, its not rocket science on the brakes.

I just spent $475 on front and rear rotors (drilled Zimmer) and Akebono ceramic pads and ebrakes included. Piece of cake, took about 4 hours to do the whole job and I took my time. I love em.
