hey i've been reading up about the HID's messing with the computer sensor that tells you you have a light out due to the lower wattage the bulbs puts out. I'm assuming the OEM bulbs are at 55w. So if i purchase the 55w set, it shouldnt set off any warning lights correct?

No the HIDs operate totally independent of the original voltage of your car. You will need a bulb out warning harness, you can get a 35w or 55w kit regardless of voltage of your plug. 55W kits are almost 2x as bright though.

I have a S40 T5 and its possibly the most finiky car ever and there have been many successes with the bulb out harness and Johns HID kits.

I got my kits today! These things are honestly plug and play, anyone worrying about doing this on their own should stop worrying. Both kits were packed nice and the instructions were a little weird to me but I'm a typical guy so the book usually doesn't get opened anyway. You remove your old bulb, install the new bulb, one end of the igniter plugs into the stock headlight plug, the other 2 wires plug into the bulb. Both wires have a male and female so it would be very difficult to make a mistake here..... I was going to say you couldn't but I've known a couple people that would plug the male and female together off the igniter, I'll assume that would be bad to do. The light output is amazing on these things, I'm sold from now on and a life long customer of Sharp HID! Thanks again for the great deal and awesome service.

This is not correct. Only the newer Volvos cause issues and we have fixes available. 35w or 55w kits both work but a 55w kit will not solve the issue alone. HIDs use power differently that halogen bulbs and a 55w HID kit still uses less power than halogen bulb. What kind of car do you have?

John

Thank you for posting! Those pictures are great! I'm pleased the install went well especially in the fog lights.

The kits worked out great and the install was so simple. I could see how the jumper harness for the original plug to the ballast could confuse someone but once you lay it out and look at everything it all falls into place. I posted the link on the BMW and Mustang boards I'm always on and I know a few people have ordered kits. I think I'll have to look into the harnesses that eliminate the light warning, its not too annoying though. Thanks again, I'm beyond happy!

94 BMW 540i. Its telling me the low beam and fog lights are out, the ones I put the HID's in. I'm not that worried about it, its been telling me I need to do my rear brakes for a few weeks so the bulb out message is a nice change :D

Hi John,

Have not been able to get my rig on the lift (buddies car has taken it over) to pop out the fog light bulb to see what model/type it is. Any chance you can dig up the fog light bulb type on my 05 V70R? I want to make sure I get a set ordered before the sale ends.

Thanks

Mitch
