1998 S70 T5m Vs 1999/2000 S70 T5m

Hi

I have a 98 S70 T5 that unfortunately is an auto and I'm considering getting a manual instead. I keep reading the 98 model is the last real Volvo and better built. I know that in 1999 they introduced the electronic throttle and it was a "downgrade", but except for that are there any other differencies one should be aware off?

I plan on eventually getting an ecu upgrade if that makes any difference.

Thanks,

TS

The ETM is covered for 200,000 miles and 10 years, but trying to get a dealership to cover it and replace it is like trying to get a donkey through the eye of a needle.

Stick with the 98 and convert it :)

I've actually found a 98 T5M as well with VERY low miles, but it's some 1500 miles away from me supposed to 500 miles for the 2000. The 2000 is very low mileage as well.

Not sure if I feel like taking it through the ordeal and do the swap though. I have someone who could probably help me out at some point, but he's a busy man with his own projects.

this is a no brainer, atleast for me. I have no desire to spend money on 99+ Volvos when there are 98s!

Lets see...

Cons:

drive by wire

individual coils

5-wire front O2

cant use much of anything from 93-98 850/x70s :( so that cuts out many years of good used parts you can get.

Do a swap, pretty frigin straight forward.
