turbobrick Posted August 15, 2008 Report Share Posted August 15, 2008 as early as i remember my family rocked volvo's..had a diesel 240 and grew up with a 240 sedan and a station wagon.. then a 760 turbo.. i got the 240 sedan when i turned 16 then was eventually given the 760 turbo around 18-19..that lasted about 6 months considering the car had over 300k on her, then i bought the 850 turbo.the dad still rocks an 850 wagon, N/A in all of its glory; and they just recently purchased a cherry 1993 240 sedan for my younger sister's to drive. My dad had a couple Firebirds back in the day before I was born. Also had a motorcycle in the 80's to save on gas. He picked up a brand new BMW 330i in 06 and traded it in this month for a 328xi. He always wanted a BMW but it was not very budget or family friendly since all three of the kids played sports.He is now completely against me modifying my car, he has since lightened up on getting the bike. General Disarray Posted August 24, 2008 Report Share Posted August 24, 2008 My dad started with an International Scout, then had a Mercury Cougar, then a 78' mustang with a lot of motor work, but he got rid of it before I was born. He sold it and got a 78' Bronco with a 351 Windsor that took me home from the hospital. Maybe that's where my love for them came from and why my next toy will be a 78 Bronco. Passing everything but the gas station FTW. It would have been my first car, but the North East had it's way with it and the bottom was pretty much rotted out, and he didn't think about restoration until few years later. It got replaced by a 96 F150, then totalled and replaced by a 2006 F150, and a 2007 Harley.Mom had an Impala before I was born, then a Caprice, then two Taurus'sI was actually the first and only person in my entire family to buy a Volvo. cheapwagon Posted August 25, 2008 Report Share Posted August 25, 2008 My dad has had some 30 cars over the years...everything from mustang, bel air, galaxie, nova, etc. I would have to say my favorites were the 87 Sunbird GT Turbo which was my first taste of boost. The sad thing was this car was less reliable than a Mitsu. My other was the 93 Taurus SHO. It didn't matter what my brother and I did to that motor it seemed bulletproof.
